(ANS \u2013 Paris)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/em>“Education is a process of relationship so that an individual, young or old, can take from themselves all the abilities that God has given them and place them at the service of society.” Archbishop Crist\u00f3bal L\u00f3pez Romero, appointed Cardinal by Pope Francis in 2019, is also a Salesian of Don Bosco and, therefore,\u00a0\u00e7a va sans dire<\/em>, is passionate about educational issues. The Salesian cardinal, a native of Spain with pastoral experience also in Latin America, was in Paris from February 26 to 28, and in fluent French, he spoke at a series of meetings, also giving an important interview on the national Catholic channel KTO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, February 27, he went to the Catholic “Le Bon Conseil” patronage in Paris for a conference on dialogue and education in Islamic lands, a topic that is particularly familiar to him, since he has been Archbishop of Rabat, Morocco, since 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Invited by the Don Bosco Foundation and the Cholet-Dupont-Oudart bank, Card. L\u00f3pez Romero reiterated the importance of a dialogue made of friendship and service, agreeing to work together for the great common causes, of which education is a part: in fact, “education is a divine task, a collaboration with the work of God,” the Cardinal stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I am not here to share intellectual or educational discoveries with you. I came to share with you an experience, that of the Church in Morocco, and that of the Salesians of Don Bosco who have been there for many years”, explained the Salesian Cardinal, recalling that Catholic education in Morocco involves 10,000 students, 12 schools and 600 teachers, all Muslims. “Our schools are Catholic because they offer an educational project that stems from the Gospel and the social doctrine of the Church,” he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aware of the vital importance of education, the “Foundation Don Bosco,” which has been helping young people since 1986, and the “Cholet-Dupont-Oudart” bank, which helps customers invest their savings in a significant way, are working together with the “Education and Dialogue” sharing fund. A sharing fund that combines finance and philanthropy: investors deposit their savings in the fund, and the Cholet-Dupont-Oudart bank donates 50% of the management fees to the Don Bosco Foundation. The main investors are foundations and associations, but also private individuals, all concerned about the future of young people.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
