Ivo Coelho, General Councillor for Formation, on \u201cFormation for A Solid Salesian Consecrated Identity In A Fluid World\u201d (EAO Team Visit 2024),\u00a0followed by a suggestion of the formation style appropriate to our era as a result of each province\u2019s team discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was hosted by Timor-Leste Province November 9-18, 2024, preceded by the EAO Regional Formation Commission meeting with its main theme, \u201cThe Presence and Role of Women in Formation Today.\u201d Though interrupted by the effect of the volcanic eruption near Bali, Indonesia, which caused the cancellation of several flights to Dili, the seminar was still held successfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants&nbsp;were invited&nbsp;to reflect on Biblical and Salesian topics related to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-4fc3f8e1 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the presence and role of women in the life of Jesus and Don Bosco, such as Women in First Century Palestine;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the Presence of Women in Jesus\u2019 Life and Ministry;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Encounters between Jesus and Women in the Gospel of John: A Formator\u2019s Perspective;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Woman &#8211; Symbols in the Book of Revelation and Its Implications For Salesian Formation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mary, the Woman of the Word;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don Bosco and Women.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Besides that, the seminar appreciated the valuable presence of Dr Gabrielle McMullen, a female professor of the University of Divinity, who guided the assembly in several timely topics of our days which go hand in hand with the trend of synodality in the Church:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-4fc3f8e1 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Our Baptismal Calling;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; New Ministries in the Church and Formation for Ministry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;common&nbsp;methodology employed was input from speakers,&nbsp;followed by&nbsp;reflection and group discussion.&nbsp;As Fr Rogeli, from PGS, remarked: \u201cThe input is&nbsp;very important, but the conversation and exchange of ideas among participants are the most valuable part of the seminar. We did, indeed, learn so much from one another, and&nbsp;our mindsets and horizons were widened&nbsp;significantly by listening to or witnessing what&nbsp;confreres&nbsp;in different settings of the Region are doing and how creative each province is in the implantation of our Charism in its&nbsp;own&nbsp;context.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The seminar witnesses to its certain success by&nbsp;the fact that it finds&nbsp;its convergence in participants\u2019 points of view, namely, the indispensability and necessity of the involvement and empowerment of lay people, in particular, of women in Salesian formation, despite some discomfort or reluctance felt by some confreres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Father Anthony Nguyen Dung<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(ANS\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Dili)\u00a0\u2013\u00a0The program of East Asia Oceania Region (EAO) Formation of formators marked its closure with the study and reflection guided\u00a0by Fr.
