Of course, we never forget, and we pray in St. John’s awesome, loving way of referring to Jesus, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God.”<\/em> And John went on, that through Him all were created, that He took flesh and lived among us to be our Savior. Now lovingly, we, the saved, recall His terrible death, atoning to God for all insults of human sinfulness, and we thank Him.  In the Book of Revelation, John calls Him “King of all the ages,”<\/em> and indeed, on this Solemnity, we do thank Him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prayerfully, we contemplate the description of the Son of Man <\/em>given to us by the prophet Daniel. Jesus at Passiontide took it to Himself.  Dwell carefully on what Daniel said: “I saw one like a Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven; He reached the Ancient One;  before Him the one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, and kingship”<\/em> And how marvelous are St. Pail’s words, “The Father gave Christ lordship of creation and made him head of the Church” <\/em>(Ephesians 1:22).<\/em> See how tightly woven in truth are the Sacred Scriptures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our reading from St. John’s Revelation <\/em>again begs us not to rush our thinking. “To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, who has made us into a kingdom<\/em>, priests for his God and Father, to Him be glory and power forever and ever.  Amen<\/em>.” John then adds, “Behold, He is coming amid the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him.” <\/em>We, the saved, yearn for Him. As John says, <\/em>‘All the peoples of the earth will lament him.”\u2026 <\/em>Stay with us, rule over us, O Lord of majesty and might. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Gospel, Jesus does not deny the title of King prompted to Pilate by the elders, but He does say His Kingdom is not of this world and then explicitly, “You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.” <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

O Lord, <\/em>we do listen. Accept us into your Kingdom.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Queen Mother of our King, pray for us! <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
