(ANS \u2013 Johannesburg)<\/strong> \u2013 In Southern Africa (Southern Africa Catholic Bishops Conference: SACBC) Catholic Youth Ministry there are 3 Patron Saints – Blessed Benedict Daswa (SA – local martyr), St Thomas Aquinas (OP) and Saint John Bosco. Since the new pastoral year starts in January, a good number of dioceses or parishes chose to commence the annual Youth Ministry activities with a good novena to Don Bosco or some event at the cathedral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In communion with the local Church (SACBC Youth and Young Adult Office), the Salesians of Don Bosco volunteered to prepare this year\u2019s short and attractive videos for the Don Bosco Novena (January 22-30). The Novena text is taken from the ‘traditional’ short version circulated in the English-speaking world for a few decades, with the respective intentions, prayer and concluding with a hymn to Don Bosco recorded by young Salesians at DB Youth Centre, Johannesburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 2 (Jan 23): For devotion to Mary<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 3 (Jan 24): For the Pope and Bishops<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 4 (Jan 25): For Young People<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 5 (Jan 26): For the Salesian Family<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 6 (Jan 27): For Educators<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 7 (Jan 28): For Missionaries<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 8 (Jan 29): For Purity<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 9 (Jan 30): For Family, Friends and those in Need<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9 simple short video clips (1-2 minutes) were created by a group of young Salesians and with the support of all 7 local communities (AFM vice-province comprises eSwatini-Lesotho-South Africa), presenting the Salesian mission, Salesian Family and Salesian Youth Movement in all 3 countries in our schools, parishes, youth centres and educational and social projects. And being young, these Salesians also involved AI (artificial intelligence)in many ways in creating these lively short videoclips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Jubilee 2025 as Pilgrims of Hope, the AFM Vice-Province aims to share the Salesian charism with the local Church in all possible ways, including through social media, visits to parishes, in collaboration with other male and female religious (Leadership Conference of Consecrated Life – Southern Africa).  Their hope is that many Youth, Young Adults and everyone involved in education may benefit from the Don Bosco Novena 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
