Solemnity: Most Holy Eucharist<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Genesis traced many centuries of human growth in the Fertile Crescent, a watered area believed to be the cradle of humanity. Within was Bagdad, Iraq, and not too far away, the ancient city of Ur, where, in about 2000 BC, Abraham was born. He and others, like Melchisedek, believed in our One God, and God would use both to further His plan for human Salvation, only a bit more than 4000 years ago. As St. Peter says, that was just a blink of God\u2019s eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, only a short while ago, as creation goes, God gave human salvation a fresh start. His faithful servant Abraham had conquered several petty rulers while seeking his nephew Lot, and he had taken much plunder. Now he wanted to share the booty with the priest-King of Salem, Melchizedek, but the King famously replied, “Give me my people. Keep the rest.” Christ gave His all for His people. In harmony with today\u2019s Liturgy, Melchizedek gave Abraham a gift of bread and wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

St. Paul taught that our Church, about 20 years after the Last Supper, used words of consecration not unlike those of Mass today. He repeated what Jesus told him: “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” The same with the cup: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul did not want anyone to get stuck on the word “remembrance.” He taught that the Church truly does eat of Christ\u2019s Body. What follows are NOT the words of Christ. They belong to teacher Paul. “For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.” Again! This is the Church\u2019s teaching, not the words of Christ, but those of Paul to the Church:”For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.” Not just a sign. It is Him!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, Let Luke\u2019s Gospel a parable be \u2026
See the hillside, stomachs ache,
Souls ache too \u2013 empty! Jesus sees,
Makes food aplenty; Apostles set to work,
Food for five thousand, and still they work.
Food for souls climbing to heaven.
Jesus works; He is bread. He is drink.
By Him We are Saved!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo<\/strong><\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

El G\u00e9nesis traz\u00f3 muchos siglos de crecimiento humano en el creciente f\u00e9rtil, un \u00e1rea regada que se cree que es la cuna de la humanidad. Dentro estaba Bagdad, Irak, y no muy lejos la antigua ciudad de Ur, donde alrededor del a\u00f1o 2000 A.C<\/em>. naci\u00f3 Abraham. \u00c9l y otros, como Melquisedec, cre\u00edan en nuestro Dios \u00danico, y Dios usar\u00eda ambos para promover Su plan para la salvaci\u00f3n humana, hace solo un poco m\u00e1s de 4000<\/em> a\u00f1os. Como dice San Pedro, eso fue solo un abrir y cerrar de ojos de Dios. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As\u00ed que, hace solo un corto tiempo, en lo que respecta a la creaci\u00f3n, Dios le dio a la salvaci\u00f3n humana un nuevo comienzo. Su fiel siervo Abrah\u00e1n hab\u00eda conquistado a varios gobernantes mezquinos mientras buscaba a su sobrino Lot, y se hab\u00eda llevado mucho bot\u00edn. Ahora quer\u00eda compartir el bot\u00edn con el rey sacerdote de Salem, Melquisedec, pero el rey le respondi\u00f3: “Dame a mi gente. Qu\u00e9date con el resto.<\/em>“Cristo lo dio todo por su pueblo. En armon\u00eda con la liturgia de hoy, Melquisedec le dio a Abraham un regalo de pan y vino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Pablo ense\u00f1\u00f3 que nuestra Iglesia, unos 20 a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de la \u00daltima Cena, usaba palabras de consagraci\u00f3n no muy diferentes a las de la Misa de hoy. Repiti\u00f3 lo que Jes\u00fas le dijo: “Esto es mi cuerpo, que es para ti. Haced esto en memoria m\u00eda”. <\/em>Lo mismo con la copa: “Esta copa es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre. Haced esto todas las veces que lo beb\u00e1is, en memoria de m\u00ed”.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pablo no quer\u00eda que nadie se quedara atascado en la palabra “memoria”. <\/em>Ense\u00f1\u00f3 que la Iglesia verdaderamente come del Cuerpo de Cristo. Lo que sigue NO son <\/em> las palabras de Cristo. Pertenecen al maestro Pablo.   “Porque todas las veces que com\u00e9is este pan y bebiereis la copa, anunci\u00e1is la muerte del Se\u00f1or hasta que \u00e9l venga<\/em>.”  \u00a1Otra vez! Esta es la ense\u00f1anza de la Iglesia, no las palabras de Cristo, sino las de Pablo a la Iglesia: “Porque todas las veces que com\u00e9is este pan y bebiereis la copa, anunci\u00e1is la muerte del Se\u00f1or hasta que \u00e9l venga<\/em>“. No es solo una se\u00f1al. \u00a1Es \u00c9l!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahora, dejemos que el Evangelio de Lucas sea una par\u00e1bola…<\/em><\/strong>
Mira la ladera, me duele el est\u00f3mago,<\/em><\/strong>
Las almas tambi\u00e9n duelen, \u00a1vac\u00edas!. Jes\u00fas ve,<\/em><\/strong>
Hace que la comida sea abundante; Los ap\u00f3stoles se pusieron manos a la obra,<\/em><\/strong>
Comida para cinco mil, y todav\u00eda trabajan.<\/em><\/strong>
Alimento para las almas que suben al cielo.<\/em><\/strong>
Jes\u00fas obra; \u00c9l es pan. \u00c9l es bebida.<\/em><\/strong>
