{"id":22886,"date":"2025-07-15T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-15T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salesianbulletin.org\/?p=22886"},"modified":"2025-07-15T17:00:21","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T00:00:21","slug":"dbti-junior-engaged-in-gene-editing-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salesianbulletin.org\/es\/2025\/07\/15\/dbti-junior-engaged-in-gene-editing-research\/","title":{"rendered":"DBTI Junior Participates in Gene Editing Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(Rosemead, California)<\/strong> &#8211; Through the Pomona College Academy of Youth Success (PAYS) program and the college\u2019s Chemistry Department, rising Don Bosco Technical Institute junior, Andy Cao (BMET), is doing faculty-led research in CRISPR, a revolutionary gene editing technology that allows scientists to precisely alter DNA sequences in living cells and organisms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Andy is able to participate in this amazing opportunity as a member of the four-year PAYS cohort program. This summer\u2019s internship is providing hands-on experience in <a><\/a>troubleshooting experiments, working with real data, and thinking critically about protein function and gene expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis experience is preparing me for a future in biology and medicine by building both my technical skills and research mindset,\u201d Andy shared. \u201cIt\u2019s also helped me connect what I\u2019ve learned in school to actual scientific questions that matter.
