(ANS \u2013 Rome) \u2013 <\/strong>A very fraternal meeting marked by spiritual communion and a rediscovery of Salesian roots took place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Rome. Mother Chiara Cazzuola, Superior General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), along with her fellow members of the FMA General Council, visited the newly renovated Salesian Central Headquarters to explore the recently inaugurated Don Bosco House Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mother Chiara Cazzuola and her fellow sisters had been unable to attend the initial presentation of the new museum setup, which took place on June 27, on the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as they were engaged in their annual retreat. However, they chose to make up for this and scheduled their visit at the first available opportunity, heading to the museum immediately after the conclusion of the FMA General Council\u2019s summer plenary session, which ended on Friday, July 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arriving in the afternoon at the Sacro Cuore Salesian house, the FMA delegation was welcomed by the Rector of the Salesian community, Fr. Francesco Marcoccio, who guided them through the three floors of the Don Bosco House Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FMA Councillors immersed themselves in Don Bosco\u2019s educational method and his relationship with the Church and the Popes (on the first floor). They also visited the Chapel of the Dream\u2019s Interpretation, set up in the choir of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. They then proceeded to the room where Don Bosco lived during his final stay in Rome in 1887, and to the room of Evangelization, where they experienced two of Don Bosco\u2019s missionary dreams. Finally, they retraced the challenges Don Bosco faced in obtaining approval for the Salesian Constitutions and the founding of the Salesian Family, concluding their tour at the chapel of the Constitutions, where they participated in a virtual visit of the sites in Rome connected to Don Bosco: places where he lived, visited, or hoped to establish a Salesian house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the visit, Mother Chiara Cazzuola and her sisters prayed the Vespers together with the Salesian community. Following this, the Mother General offered the traditional Salesian \u201cGoodnight\u201d reflection. On this occasion, she expressed her gratitude to the Rector Major, Fr. Fabio Attard, for his explicit invitation to visit the museum: \u201cCongratulations on the work that has been done! This place, so full of charisma, already has a powerful impact, but being able to delve deeper and relive Don Bosco\u2019s spiritual journey is something that I believe will benefit many people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In preparation for the Sunday liturgy, Mother Chiara shared a reflection on the figures of Martha and Mary, the sisters of Bethany who welcomed Jesus into their home. She praised Martha\u2019s spirit of service, as she focused on hosting the Lord, but cautioned against losing sight of the essential: the relationship with Christ, which Mary pursued with greater zeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt times, like Martha, we risk becoming overwhelmed by worry, busyness, and anxiety, while Mary, seated at the Lord\u2019s feet, listens. This Gospel is a reminder, as it indicates the soul of our Salesian formation. It resolves itself in the mysticism that leads us to remain deeply united to the Lord, without ever losing focus on Him. Some may become too distracted and, in doing so, lose attention from the Lord. Conversely, there are moments when we might have a mystical tendency that takes us too far from the earthly realities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing inspiration from the spiritual journey presented at the Don Bosco House Museum, Mother Chiara highlighted two examples of balanced religious life: \u201cDon Bosco was a mystic, and Mother Mazzarello was also a mystic, but they both knew how to live and work while remaining deeply united to the Lord. We too are called to this grace of unity: to contemporarily live fully both the contemplative and active dimensions, harmoniously intertwined.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a moment of fraternal sharing, Fr. Fabio Attard concluded the evening by thanking Mother Chiara Cazzuola and all the FMA present. He emphasized that the climate of great familiarity that characterized the meeting should always mark the relationship between the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. He also expressed his hope that the new Don Bosco House Museum would help the entire Salesian Family to grow in love for Don Bosco, the cornerstone of an authentic and credible Salesian life.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
