(Bellflower, California) <\/strong>– As part of the pilgrimage for the Jubilee in Rome, a group of 22 young adults from the Salesian Province of San Francisco extended their journey north to the land of Don Bosco. Led by Fr. Fabian C\u00e1rdenas and Bro. Jorge Galvis, they were accompanied by participants from San Luis Rey in Laredo, Texas, and St. Dominic Savio in Los Angeles, California, and spent five days visiting Valdocco, Colle Don Bosco, and Chieri, the very places where the Saint of Youth was born, lived, and began his ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first day at Colle Don Bosco began with Mass, a moment of connection and gratitude for the blessing of walking where Don Bosco once walked. From there, the group explored the house where Mama Margaret lived and he spent much of his childhood, the fields where he played, and the church where his journey of faith began. The group prayed in the church where St. Dominic Savio made his First Communion. For some, this was a homecoming to the heart of the Salesian charism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One participant, Yanelly, shared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWalking through the same paths Don Bosco did gave me a deeper understanding of his ministry. I always knew the impact he had on young children, but didn\u2019t realize how much he dedicated his life to doing so. As a teacher, I felt a deep connection to Don Bosco. I want to be able to teach my students about God\u2019s unconditional love and mercy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the journey, moments of prayer and reflection helped the young pilgrims deepen their connection to the saint. The museum at Valdocco offered a rich vision of Don Bosco\u2019s life and mission, while the quiet streets of Chieri invited them to imagine his footsteps two centuries ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, as the Salesian Family prepares to celebrate Don Bosco\u2019s birthday on August 16, the group carries home the gift of these days: the knowledge that his birthplace, his schools, and his churches remain well cared for, tangible reminders of a life given entirely to God and the young.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These places are not just monuments; they are invitations. To walk where Don Bosco walked is to hear again the call to respond to God\u2019s love with courage, creativity, and joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
