22nd<\/sup> Sunday of Ordinary Time, C, offers strong suggestions to not to be caught non-humble, for it can easily be turned into painful humiliation. Sirach 3 leads the way. A proud man puts himself in danger of being belittled.\u201c \u2026 An attentive [humble] ear is the joy of the wise. Water quenches [pride\u2019s] flaming fire, and alms atone for sins<\/em>.\u201d Friends, listen to sound advice and let humility quench supposed superiority of wealth or mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, says the Psalm, \u201cThe just rejoice and exult before God\u201d<\/em> [not self\u2019]. \u201cThey are glad and rejoice. Sing to God, chant praise to his name, whose name is the LORD.\u201d <\/em>O Praise Him! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, says Hebrews, \u201cYou have approached Mount Zion and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem<\/em>.\u201d Humble persons even now draw close to that living God.<\/em> A taste of what God promises to the just is His pledge, that one also draws near to \u201cCountless angels in festal gathering, and the assembly of the firstborn enrolled in heaven, and God the judge of all.\u201d  <\/em>If only with contrite and humble hearts we never cease to try to come near to God, we also approach the beginning of heaven on earth. Through Jesus and His blood shed for us, says Hebrews, this is state of the just.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus continues on our behalf to preach the importance of humility to those at a banquet. Several were seeking to take most honorable places nearest the host and Jesus. Those too invited to salvation in the kingdom of heaven may think we are better than others. Do any of us think we deserve the best of places at  the banquet of heaven?  Careful, says Jesus. You may be headed for great embarrassment. Or as at the pharisee\u2019s banquet, you may be asked to go down to the lowest place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus offers us a place in heaven, and we will be perfectly satisfied, totally satisfied, in the measure we deserve, and together with Him in glory. He described our presence this way: \u201cEveryone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted<\/em>.” The words of Jesus are Truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the desire to be preferred,                                <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deliver us O Lord.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

La no-humildad engendra humillaci\u00f3<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

El 22\u00ba domingo del Antiguo Testamento, C, ofrece fuertes sugerencias para no ser
sorprendido como no humilde, ya que puede convertirse f\u00e1cilmente en una humillaci\u00f3n dolorosa. El Eclesi\u00e1stico 3 lidera el camino. Un hombre orgulloso se pone en peligro de ser menospreciado.”\u2026 Un o\u00eddo atento [humilde] es el gozo de los sabios. El agua apaga el fuego ardiente [del orgullo], y la limosna exp\u00eda los pecados”. Amigos, escuchen los buenos consejos y dejen que la humildad apague la supuesta superioridad de la riqueza o la mente.
 
En cambio, dice el Salmo, “Los justos se regocijan y se regocijan delante de Dios”
[no de s\u00ed mismos]. “Est\u00e1n contentos y regocijados. Canten a Dios, canten
alabanzas a su nombre, cuyo nombre es el Se\u00f1or”. \u00a1Oh, alabado sea!
 
Adem\u00e1s, dice Hebreos: “Te has acercado al monte Si\u00f3n y a la ciudad del Dios vivo,
la Jerusal\u00e9n celestial”. Las personas humildes aun ahora se acercan a ese Dios
vivo. Una prenda de lo que Dios promete a los justos es su prenda, que uno tambi\u00e9n
se acerca a Innumerables \u00e1ngeles en congregaci\u00f3n festiva, y la asamblea de los
primog\u00e9nitos inscritos en el cielo, y Dios el juez de todos”.  Si con el coraz\u00f3n
contrito y humilde no dejamos de intentar acercarnos a Dios, tambi\u00e9n nos
acercamos al principio del cielo en la tierra. A trav\u00e9s de Jes\u00fas y su sangre
derramada por nosotros, dice Hebreos, este es el estado de los justos.
 
Jes\u00fas contin\u00faa predicando en nuestro nombre la importancia de la humildad a los
que est\u00e1n en un banquete. Varios buscaban ocupar los lugares m\u00e1s honorables
m\u00e1s cercanos al anfitri\u00f3n y a Jes\u00fas. Aquellos que tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n invitados a la
salvaci\u00f3n en el reino de los cielos pueden pensar que somos mejores que los
dem\u00e1s. \u00bfAlguno de nosotros cree que merecemos el mejor de los lugares en el
banquete del cielo?  Cuidado, dice Jes\u00fas. Es posible que se dirija a una gran
verg\u00fcenza. O como en el banquete del fariseo, se le puede pedir que baje al lugar
m\u00e1s bajo.
 
Jes\u00fas nos ofrece un lugar en el cielo, y estaremos perfectamente satisfechos,
totalmente satisfechos, en la medida en que merecemos, y junto con \u00c9l en gloria. \u00c9l
describi\u00f3 nuestra presencia de esta manera: “Todo el que se enaltece ser\u00e1
humillado, pero el que se humilla ser\u00e1 enaltecido”. Las palabras de Jes\u00fas son la
Verdad.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Del deseo de ser exaltado, del deseo de ser preferido, l\u00edbranos, oh Se\u00f1or”.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
