After Solomon, a money-loving king of Judah, caused ten tribes still calling themselves Israel to break away. Separation weakened their loyalty to Yahweh and His Temple. Last week, we heard Amos predict their captivity, and this week, we hear Amos predicting captivity for the God favored tribes of Judah and Benjamin. Amos warned them firmly to abandon luxuries and complacency, or they too would face captivity, and the rich and elite would be the first to go. — <\/strong>Wealthy and complacent kingdoms come and go, especially those that have put God and morality aside. Here, He used the parable of poor Lazarus, hungering for just a morsel from the rich man\u2019s table, but getting not a crumb.
