Fundamental to our Christian belief is that there is life beyond, and that life is eternal. Our faith in the afterlife brings us hope. It helps us to bear whatever each day may bring with tranquility. It gives calm and purpose as does the prayer Don Bosco taught his youngsters, \u201cDear Mother Mary, ever Virgin, help me to save my soul.\u201d <\/em>Now, we allow the dead to bring a measure of peace to our spiritual life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scriptures of All Souls Day<\/em> reinforce our belief in life after death. It was already present in Wisdom as sacred scripture edged toward the time of Christ, written only about fifty years before His birth: \u201cThe souls of the just are in the hand of God,  and no torment shall touch them.\u201d <\/em>Indeed, all our efforts to live righteous lives lead us to the throne of the eternal God! That is our faith. No matter how foolish our struggles may seem to others, they are for us our guarantee of heavenly life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul to the Romans helps us strengthen our trust in what Jesus has done for us. \u201cGod proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us,\u201d <\/em>Paul wrote. Our troubles need to be mingled with those of the Crucified. Our aim is to die with Christ as He died for us. Doing so we are buried as He was, and we will rise as He rose from the dead to exalted life. \u201cThrough His wounds we are healed<\/em>,\u201d said Isaiah of the “suffering Servant,<\/em>” and Paul asks us to know, \u201cthrough whom we have now received reconciliation.\u201d<\/em> Life in Christ is now and forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our passage from John\u2019s Gospel catches Jesus still in the glow of tremendously faith stirring moments after the multiplication of the loaves and fishes and his walk on the stormy sea. Jesus expects faith and trust from us. He said, \u201cI <\/em>will not reject anyone who comes to me,\u201d <\/em>and our salvation is why the Father sent Him to live and die among us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We pray for our deceased, not knowing how at death God saw the state of their relationship with Him. But we do know this, that Jesus knew why the Father sent Him. He said, \u201cThis is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day<\/em>.\u201d Jesus has helped us ease our fear of death. Our departure from this life, He assures us, is entry into life eternal. Our life is not destroyed, it is extended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La vida contin\u00faa<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fundamental para nuestra creencia cristiana es que hay vida m\u00e1s all\u00e1 y que la vida es eterna. Nuestra fe en la vida despu\u00e9s de la muerte nos trae esperanza. Nos ayuda a soportar lo que cada d\u00eda pueda traer con tranquilidad. Da calma y prop\u00f3sito, al igual que la oraci\u00f3n que Don Bosco ense\u00f1\u00f3 a sus hijos: “Querida Madre Mar\u00eda, siempre Virgen, ay\u00fadame a salvar mi alma”. <\/em>Ahora, permitimos que los muertos traigan una medida de paz a nuestra vida espiritual. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las escrituras del D\u00eda de los Fieles Difuntos<\/em> refuerzan nuestra creencia en la vida despu\u00e9s de la muerte. Ya estaba presente en la “Sabidur\u00eda”<\/em> cuando la Sagrada Escritura se acercaba a la \u00e9poca de Cristo, escrita solo unos cincuenta a\u00f1os antes de su nacimiento: “Las almas de los justos est\u00e1n en las manos de Dios, y ning\u00fana tormenta las alcanzar\u00e1”. <\/em>De hecho, \u00a1todos nuestros esfuerzos por vivir vidas rectas nos llevan al trono del Dios eterno! Esa es nuestra fe. No importa cu\u00e1n tontas puedan parecer nuestras luchas a los dem\u00e1s, son para nosotros nuestra garant\u00eda de la vida celestial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pablo a los Romanos nos ayuda a fortalecer nuestra confianza en lo que Jes\u00fas ha hecho por nosotros. “Dios demuestra su amor por nosotros en que siendo a\u00fan pecadores Cristo muri\u00f3 por nosotros”, <\/em>escribi\u00f3 Pablo. Nuestros problemas deben mezclarse con los del Crucificado. Nuestro objetivo es morir con Cristo como \u00c9l muri\u00f3 por nosotros. Al hacerlo, somos sepultados como \u00c9l fue, y resucitaremos como \u00c9l resucit\u00f3 de entre los muertos a la vida exaltada. “Por sus heridas somos sanados<\/em>“, dijo Isa\u00edas del “Siervo sufriente”, <\/em>y Pablo nos pide que sepamos, “por medio de quien ahora hemos recibido la reconciliaci\u00f3n”.<\/em> La vida en Cristo es ahora y para siempre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nuestro pasaje del Evangelio de Juan atrapa a Jes\u00fas todav\u00eda en el resplandor de una fe tremendamente conmovedora momentos despu\u00e9s de la multiplicaci\u00f3n de los panes y los peces y su caminar sobre el mar tempestuoso. Jes\u00fas espera fe y confianza de nosotros. \u00c9l dijo: “No rechazar\u00e9 <\/em>a nadie que venga a m\u00ed”, <\/em>y nuestra salvaci\u00f3n es la raz\u00f3n por la que el Padre lo envi\u00f3 a vivir y morir entre nosotros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oramos por nuestros difuntos, sin saber c\u00f3mo al morir Dios vio el estado de su relaci\u00f3n con \u00c9l. Pero s\u00ed sabemos esto, que Jes\u00fas sab\u00eda por qu\u00e9 el Padre lo envi\u00f3. \u00c9l dijo: “Esta es la voluntad de mi Padre: que todo el que ve al Hijo y cree en \u00e9l tenga vida eterna, y yo lo resucitar\u00e9 en el \u00faltimo d\u00eda<\/em>“. Jes\u00fas nos ha ayudado a aliviar nuestro miedo a la muerte. Nuestra salida de esta vida, nos asegura, es la entrada a la vida eterna. Nuestra vida no se destruye, se prolonga.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
