As we begin a new Liturgical Year, our Church invites us, the chosen and loyal, together with her to \u201cWalk in the Light of the Lord.\u201d<\/em> In Genesis, <\/em>the first thing God shares on all creation is just that, light<\/em>. “Let there be light,\u201d <\/em>He said, and chaos and darkness were overcome by His presence and power. Isaiah sensed God\u2019s light and in it saw a saved Jerusalem and a new sacred hill on which rose a new Temple of the Most High. From it the Lord shall teach all creation the way that leads us back to Him. We Christians see this as God\u2019s one true Church, rising with the one Teacher, Jesus, Eternal Word, sent by His Father, coming as our Savior<\/em> and again at the end of time as our Judge. <\/em>Indeed, we of whom Isaiah prophesied, \u201cO [new] house of Jacob, come,let us walk in the light of the Lord!<\/em>“
 
Palm 122 responds, \u201cLet us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.\u201d<\/em> Other reminders follow, never go to church (our Jerusalem)<\/em> compelled and sour faced, unable to pray well for we are “of many tribes<\/em>.”No! \u201cPray for the peace of [our] Jerusalem<\/em>,\u201c “peace and<\/em> prosperity” <\/em>among us in the House of God. Think, \u201cI will pray for your good,\u201d <\/em> my brothers and sisters. Thus, we walk in the light of the Lord.
 
St. Paul echoes thus theme. \u201cLet us then throw off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; let us conduct ourselves properly as in the day<\/em>.\u201d That is, says Paul, do not spoil a bright friendship with God by “wild parties, drunkenness, infidelity, lust, rivalry and jealousy.<\/em>\u201d Imagine our own church community if troubled by these kinds of sinful freedom.
 
In St. Matthew\u2019s Gospel, Jesus used a terrible example of sinfulness catching sinners unaware and plunged into destruction. Jesus recalled Noah\u2019s time with people “eating and<\/em> drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage<\/em>.” Wedding parties went on and on. Celebrants saw Noah at work on the ark but took no warning. Then came the flood! \u201cSo will it be also at the coming of the Son of Man,\u201d<\/em> said Jesus, and He further insisted that two men would be working in the field. One would be taken the other left; two would be at a grindstone. One taken, another left. So it was, and so it will be for carefree sinners. 
 
We stand before a new year of grace. Our Church invites us to shut out darkness of evil and to be open to the presence and ways of God. From the start, stand open to the Spirit and to the advice of Jesus: \u201cSo too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” <\/em>At His coming may we delight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camina a la luz<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Al comenzar un nuevo A\u00f1o Lit\u00fargico, nuestra Iglesia nos invita, a los elegidos y leales, junto a ella, a “Caminar en la Luz del Se\u00f1or.”<\/em> En el G\u00e9nesis, <\/em>lo primero que Dios comparte sobre toda la creaci\u00f3n es precisamente eso: la luz<\/em>.“Que se haga luz”, <\/em>dijo, y el caos y la oscuridad fueron vencidos por Su presencia y poder. Isa\u00edas percibi\u00f3 la luz de Dios y en ella vio una Jerusal\u00e9n salvada y una colina sagrada sobre la que se alzaba un nuevo Templo del Alt\u00edsimo. De ella el Se\u00f1or ense\u00f1ar\u00e1 a toda la creaci\u00f3n el camino que nos lleva de vuelta a \u00c9l. Nosotros, los cristianos, vemos esto como la \u00fanica y verdadera Iglesia de Dios, que se levanta con el \u00fanico Maestro, Jes\u00fas, la Palabra Eterna, enviada por Su Padre, viniendo como nuestro Salvador<\/em> y de nuevo al final de los tiempos como nuestro Juez. <\/em>En verdad, nosotros somos de quienes Isa\u00edas profetiz\u00f3: “<\/em>\u00a1Oh nueva casa de Jacob, venid, caminemos en la luz del Se\u00f1or!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lel Salmo 122 responde: “Vamos a regocijarnos a la casa del Se\u00f1or.”<\/em> Otros recordatorios siguen despu\u00e9s: nunca vay\u00e1is a la iglesia (nuestra Jerusal\u00e9n)<\/em> obligados y con el rostro amargado, incapaces de rezar bien porque somos ‘de muchas ‘tribus’. <\/em>\u00a1No! “Orad por la paz de [nuestra] Jerusal\u00e9n<\/em>“, ‘paz y prosperidad’ <\/em>entre nosotros en la Casa de Dios. Pensad: “Rezar\u00e9 por vuestro bien\u201d, hermanos<\/em> y hermanas.  As\u00ed, caminamos en la luz del Se\u00f1or.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Pablo refleja este tema. “Entonces desprendamos las obras de las tinieblas y nos pongamos la armadura de luz; comport\u00e9monos como en el d\u00eda.”<\/em> Es decir, dice Pablo, no estropees una brillante amistad con Dios con ‘fiestas salvajes, borrachera, infidelidad, lujuria, rivalidad y celos’.<\/em>“Imagina que nuestra propia comunidad eclesi\u00e1stica se siente afectada por este tipo de libertad pecaminosa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En el Evangelio de San Mateo, Jes\u00fas us\u00f3 un terrible ejemplo del pecado, sorprendiendo a los pecadores y sumergi\u00e9ndolos en la destrucci\u00f3n. Jes\u00fas record\u00f3 el tiempo de No\u00e9 con la gente ‘comiendo y bebiendo, cas\u00e1ndose y dando en matrimonio’.<\/em>Las fiestas nupciales continuaron y continuaron y continuaron.  Los celebrantes vieron a No\u00e9 trabajando en el arca, pero no recibieron aviso. \u00a1Entonces lleg\u00f3 la inundaci\u00f3n! “As\u00ed ser\u00e1 tambi\u00e9n en la venida del Hijo del Hombre”,<\/em> dijo Jes\u00fas, y adem\u00e1s insisti\u00f3 en que dos hombres trabajar\u00edan en el campo. Uno era llevado y el otro dejado ; Dos ser\u00edan en una piedra de afilar. Uno se lleva, otro se queda. As\u00ed fue, y as\u00ed ser\u00e1 para los pecadores despreocupados.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nos enfrentamos a un nuevo a\u00f1o de gracia. Nuestra Iglesia nos invita a cerrar la oscuridad del mal y a estar abiertos a la presencia y a los caminos de Dios. Desde el principio, mantente abierto al Esp\u00edritu y al consejo de Jes\u00fas: “As\u00ed tambi\u00e9n deb\u00e9is estar preparados, porque en una hora que no esper\u00e1is,  vendr\u00e1 el Hijo del Hombre.” <\/em>Con Su venida que nos deleitemos.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
