Por Fr. Ed Liptak, SDB <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Advent has repeatedly confronted us with an astounding truth: the Spirit-God has deigned to take upon Himself the form of a human being. He actually did come and live among us. In Advent, the Church has placed before us a wealth of scriptural references to help us celebrate once more the fulfillment of human history\u2019s greatest moment. The liturgy acclaims joyfully yet again the entry of Jesus the Messiah into the way of our salvation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n See first Isaiah\u2019s prophetic announcement to the disgraceful King of David\u2019s line. \u201cThe Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall name him Emmanuel.\u201d In centuries long after Isaiah and Ahab, that unfit King, never was Isaiah\u2019s glimpse of the history of our salvation better fulfilled than in Mary, Virgin of virgins and in her Son named Emmanuel, God-with-us, Jesus the Messiah. Christians attentive to real history cry out, \u201cCome Lord Jesus!\u201d and we wait, with Mother Mary, for His birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n St Paul to the Romans listed what he had gleaned from scripture and the prophets, which identified the Lord Jesus Christ. He was the Son of God yet descended from David; He, as Son of God, enjoyed mighty power; He possessed the Holiness of God; all this led him to resurrection from the dead. Advent asks us to acknowledge these truths and see them in the Divine Child born for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Finally, good St Matthew told us what happened and what we never tire of hearing: \u201cThis is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about.\u201d Matthew told us the factual truth of the unfolding of the life of Jusus, gateway to our salvation. It is so human and yet divine: the mysterious pregnancy of Mary; the troubled heart of good Joseph; God intervening, not by any great vision to Joseph but by a dream; how the Child to be born of Mary was conceived through God\u2019s own power<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then Matthew, the Christian historian, referred all this to fulfillment of the same ancient promise of God, \u201cThe Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall name him Emmanuel. Humanly speaking, all was settled. \n\n\n\nEl Se\u00f1or Dios Entre Nosotros\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
V\u00e9ase primero el anuncio prof\u00e9tico de Isa\u00edas al vergonzoso rey de David. “El Se\u00f1or mismo os dar\u00e1 esta se\u00f1al: la virgen concebir\u00e1 y dar\u00e1 a luz un hijo y lo llamar\u00e1 Emanuel.” En siglos mucho despu\u00e9s de Isa\u00edas y Ahab, ese rey inadecuado, nunca se cumpli\u00f3 mejor el atisbo de Isa\u00edas de la historia de nuestra salvaci\u00f3n que en Mar\u00eda, Virgen de las v\u00edrgenes, y en su Hijo llamado Emanuel, Dios-con-nosotros, Jes\u00fas el Mes\u00edas. Los cristianos atentos a la historia real claman “\u00a1Ven, Se\u00f1or Jes\u00fas!” y nosotros esperamos, con la Virgen Mar\u00eda, su cumplea\u00f1os.
San Pablo a los Romanos enumer\u00f3 lo que hab\u00eda extra\u00eddo de las escrituras y de los profetas que identificaban al Se\u00f1or Jesucristo. Era el Hijo de Dios pero descendiente de David; Como Hijo de Dios, gozaba de un poder enorme; Pose\u00eda la Santidad de Dios; todo esto le llev\u00f3 a la resurrecci\u00f3n de entre los muertos. El Adviento nos pide reconocer estas verdades y verlas en el Ni\u00f1o Divino nacido para nosotros.
Finalmente, el buen San Mateo nos cont\u00f3 lo que ocurri\u00f3 y lo que nunca nos cansamos de o\u00edr: “As\u00ed fue como naci\u00f3 Jesucristo.” Mateo nos cont\u00f3 la verdad factual sobre el desarrollo de la vida de Jus\u00fas, puerta de entrada a nuestra salvaci\u00f3n. Es tan humana y a la vez divina: el misterioso embarazo de Mar\u00eda; el coraz\u00f3n atribulado del buen Jos\u00e9; Dios interviniendo, no por una gran visi\u00f3n para Jos\u00e9 sino por un sue\u00f1o; c\u00f3mo el Ni\u00f1o que iba a nacer de Mar\u00eda fue concebido por el propio poder de Dios
Entonces Mateo, historiador cristiano, refiri\u00f3 todo esto al cumplimiento de la misma antigua promesa de Dios: “El Se\u00f1or mismo os dar\u00e1 esta se\u00f1al: la virgen concebir\u00e1 y dar\u00e1 a luz un hijo y lo llamar\u00e1 Emanuel. Hablando de manera humana, todo estaba resuelto. Jos\u00e9 acogi\u00f3 a Mar\u00eda en su hogar. \u2026 M\u00e1s adelante, durante esta cuarta semana de Adviento, nuestro anhelo terminar\u00e1 y, de hecho, \u00a1Jes\u00fas vendr\u00e1!<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
