Ed Liptak, SDB <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lord Jesus, when You taught the \u2018Beatitudes,\u2019 it might seem that you intended to puzzle us. What you taught there on the hillside seemed so contrary to our way of thinking. Keep us company now as we seek to fathom more deeply your meaning. Surely however, you did want to tell us for our own good to stay aware that there are two worlds, that of the Spirit, and that of the earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each of the ways of Jesus to happiness and holiness begins with some lesser human experience that can lead to greater happiness in a world beyond:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Happy the poor in spirit. Having no desire for wealth they gain the Kingdom of Heaven.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Happy the meek and lowly here, for they shall be among the rulers in heaven.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Happy the hungry and thirsty here below; they will be fully satisfied in life beyond.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Happy the merciful here, for they will be greeted with mercy above.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Happy the clean of heart, pure of sin, for they will see the splendor of God.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Happy the peacemakers, for in the next life they will be gathered among God\u2019s children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lord Jesus, aren\u2019t you saying that each \u2018beatitude\u2019 can open a way to enter the joyous Kingdom of Heaven? Ah Jes\u00fas, isn\u2019t it that each burdensome way though difficult does not prevent entry to the joyous Kingdom of Heaven? Every lack or sadness borne by your grace on earth will be replaced by the experience of God in the Heavenly Kingdom. Blessed are we to reach that ultimate Divine favor. Jesus\u2019s conclusion of this passage is marvelous.:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRejoice and be glad! Your  reward will be great in heaven\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Zephaniah and Paul support us. The prophet says, \u201cThose who shall take refuge in the name of the LORD \u2026 shall do no wrong and speak no lies, [nor] be deceitful. [Thus] they shall pasture and couch their flocks with none to disturb them.\u201d  And for those feeling down, Paul says, \u201dGod chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something, so that no human being might boast before God. It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus\u201d. An old hymn sings who God is: \u201cOur health while we are living, Our life when we shall die.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-coblocks-dynamic-separator has-background has-dark-gray-color is-style-line\" style=\"height:50px\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dos Mundos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jes\u00fas santo, cuando ense\u00f1aste las &#8216;Bienaventuranzas&#8217;, podr\u00eda parecer que quer\u00edas desconcertarnos. Lo que ense\u00f1aste all\u00ed en la ladera parec\u00eda tan contrario a nuestra forma de pensar. Haznos compa\u00f1\u00eda ahora mientras buscamos comprender m\u00e1s profundamente tu significado. Sin embargo, seguramente quer\u00edas decirnos por nuestro propio bien que mantengamos conscientes de que hay dos mundos, el del Esp\u00edritu y el de la tierra.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cada uno de los caminos de Jes\u00fas hacia la felicidad y la santidad comienza con alguna experiencia humana menor que puede conducir a una mayor felicidad en un mundo m\u00e1s all\u00e1:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Felices los pobres en esp\u00edritu. Sin deseo de riqueza, obtienen el Reino de los Cielos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Felices los humildes y humildes aqu\u00ed, porque estar\u00e1n entre los gobernantes del cielo.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Felices los hambrientos y sedientos aqu\u00ed abajo; Estar\u00e1n plenamente satisfechos en la vida m\u00e1s all\u00e1.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Felices los misericordiosos aqu\u00ed, porque ser\u00e1n recibidos con misericordia arriba.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Felices los de coraz\u00f3n limpio, puros de pecado, porque ver\u00e1n el esplendor de Dios.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Felices los pacificadores, porque en la pr\u00f3xima vida estar\u00e1n reunidos entre los hijos de Dios.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Se\u00f1or Jes\u00fas, \u00bfno est\u00e1s diciendo que cada &#8216;bienaventuranza&#8217; puede abrir un camino para entrar en el alegre Reino de los Cielos?\u00a0\u00a0Ah, Jes\u00fas, \u00bfno es que cada camino pesado, aunque dif\u00edcil, no impide la entrada al alegre Reino de los Cielos? Toda falta o tristeza que soportara tu gracia en la tierra ser\u00e1 reemplazada por la experiencia de Dios en el Reino Celestial. Benditos somos nosotros para alcanzar ese favor divino supremo. La conclusi\u00f3n de Jes\u00fas sobre este pasaje es maravillosa.:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;\u00a1Regocijaos y alegr\u00e1os! Tu recompensa ser\u00e1 grande en el cielo&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Zefan\u00edas y Pablo nos apoyan. El profeta dice: &#8220;Aquellos que se refugien en el nombre del SE\u00d1OR\u2026 No har\u00e1 da\u00f1o ni mentiras, ni ser\u00e1 enga\u00f1oso.\u00a0[As\u00ed] pastar\u00e1n y acoger\u00e1n sus reba\u00f1os sin nadie que los moleste.&#8221; Y para los que se sienten desanimados, Pablo dice: &#8220;Dios eligi\u00f3 a los humildes y despreciados del mundo, a los que no valen nada, para reducir a nada a los que son algo, para que ning\u00fan ser humano pudiera jactarse ante Dios. Es por \u00e9l que est\u00e1is en Cristo Jes\u00fas&#8221;. Un viejo himno canta qui\u00e9n es Dios: &#8220;Nuestra salud mientras vivimos, Nuestra vida cuando moriremos.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Fr.
