A constant theme runs through all the readings of the 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time, and it is, \u201cWhatever you do, do it for the Glory of God.\u201d Seven hundred years before Christ, Isaiah led the way, speaking to his fellow worshipers, \u201cThus says the LORD:\u201d share food and shelter, your clothing with the hungry, the homeless, the naked. Do not turn away from your own and your light will shine. Remove evil from your midst. Do this and darkness will turn to light, gloom to midday brightness. Your wounds will be healed. Cry out and I will answer, \u201cI am here!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note that Isaiah was saying, \u2018Do good to others and God will do good for you.\u2019 There is nothing wrong with that, but St. Pul elevated Christian giving higher. He taught God\u2019s mysteries not t0 show his wisdom or powers of speech, but aware of his inability. Paul held that what was important for him was to mirror Christ so that his converts too would act as his Master did. Jesus He gave of Himself, so our giving too would be humble, for it could never exceed Christ\u2019s giving. Paul\u2019s lesson was to \u2018Give in imitation of Christ who gave.\u2019 Don\u2019t aim to be seen as good, but as a Christian acting in the Name, light, and power of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isaiah taught generosity and reward; Paul taught humble generosity in imitation of Christ, then Jesus taught not to fear being good. Be brave. about it. Jesus trusts that we live with proper intention, and if He asks that we act so as to reflect Him, surely, he is ready to help. He says,
“You are the salt of the earth.\u201d If you lose your saltiness, what good are you? What will replace you? Found useless you will be thrown out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou are the light of the world.\u201d You are meant to be set on God\u2019s mountain. You can in no way be hidden. You are meant to be raised as on a lampstand to be seen and to help others to see. \u201cYour light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lord has made us to be \u201cgracious, merciful, and just.\u201d Let us not shirk that task. He is God, He is good unashamedly so. He is powerful. He is with us. He has revealed his intention for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let your light shine before others, so that they may see
your good works and give glory to your Father. (Mt 5:16)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tus heridas se curar\u00e1n. Grita y te responder\u00e9: “\u00a1Estoy aqu\u00ed!”\u00a0\u00a0

F\u00edjate en que Isa\u00edas dec\u00eda: ‘Haz el bien a los dem\u00e1s y Dios te har\u00e1 el bien.’ No hay nada de malo en eso, pero San Pul elev\u00f3 la donaci\u00f3n cristiana a un nivel superior. Ense\u00f1\u00f3 los misterios de Dios no mostrando su sabidur\u00eda ni su capacidad de habla, sino consciente de su incapacidad. Pablo sosten\u00eda que lo importante para \u00e9l era reflejar a Cristo para que sus conversos tambi\u00e9n actuaran como lo hac\u00eda su Maestro. A Jes\u00fas se dio de s\u00ed mismo, para que nuestro don tambi\u00e9n fuera humilde, pues nunca podr\u00eda superar el don de Cristo. La lecci\u00f3n de Pablo fue: ‘Da en imitaci\u00f3n de Cristo que dio.’\u00a0\u00a0 No busques ser visto como bueno, sino como un cristiano que act\u00faa en el Nombre, la luz y el poder de Dios.

Isa\u00edas ense\u00f1\u00f3 generosidad y recompensa; Pablo ense\u00f1\u00f3 la humildad generosidad en imitaci\u00f3n de Cristo, luego Jes\u00fas ense\u00f1\u00f3 a no temer ser bueno.
