(ANS \u2013 Turin<\/strong>) \u2013 This year, Holy Week<\/strong>\u2014and in particular the Easter Triduum<\/strong>\u2014at the Salesian Basilica of Mary Help of Christians<\/strong> in Turin<\/strong> will have a special focus: it will be observed in a spirit of prayerful solidarity with Christians in the Holy Land<\/strong>, invoking the gift of peace for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Significance of a Spiritual Twinning<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The initiative, conceived and promoted by the Rector of the Basilica, Fr. Michele Viviano<\/strong>, is intended as a concrete response to the appeal made by the Salesians of the \u201cJesus the Adolescent\u201d Province<\/strong> in the Middle East to persevere in prayer for peace in the region. It has also found visual expression in posters created by the Salesian shrine in Turin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The background of the posters, featuring the dome of the Holy Sepulchre<\/strong> and the Cross of Mount Calvary<\/strong>, visually expresses this communion of prayer for peace in the Middle East. \u201cAnd the message of goodwill from the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem<\/strong>, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa<\/strong>, addressed to Christians in the Holy Land, which is featured on the poster, takes on even greater significance for us Christians living in the West,\u201d explained Fr. Viviano<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEaster, which we celebrate in the sign of Christ\u2019s passion, death, and resurrection, reminds us that no darkness\u2014not even that of war\u2014can have the final word. The empty tomb is the seal of life\u2019s victory over hatred, of mercy over sin. May this certainty illuminate our steps and sustain our hope,\u201d reads the message quoted from the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reinforcing this message, Fr. Michele Viviano<\/strong> also renewed the strong call for peace made during the Angelus<\/strong> el Sunday, March 22, 2026<\/strong>, by the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV<\/strong>, who stated on that occasion: \u201cWe cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering of so many people, defenseless victims of these conflicts. What wounds them wounds all of humanity. The death and suffering caused by these wars are a scandal for the whole human family and a cry before God! I strongly renew the appeal to persevere in prayer, so that hostilities may cease and paths to peace\u2014founded on sincere dialogue and respect for the dignity of every human person\u2014may finally open.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Program of Celebrations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The journey will begin on March 29<\/strong>, Palm Sunday of the Lord\u2019s Passion<\/strong>. Masses will follow the Sunday schedule (8:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 9:00 p.m.<\/strong>), with the blessing of olive branches at the beginning of each Eucharistic celebration at the back of the Basilica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From March 30 to April 1<\/strong>, the Basilica will offer extended opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation<\/strong>. A special event will take place on the evening of Tuesday, March 31<\/strong>, featuring a penitential liturgy and Easter greetings among members of the parish\u2019s Educative and Pastoral Community<\/strong>, providing an opportunity to prepare one\u2019s heart for Easter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 2<\/strong>, Holy Thursday<\/strong>, the parish priestly community will attend the Chrism Mass<\/strong> at the Church of the Holy Face<\/strong>, presided over by Cardinal Roberto Repole<\/strong>. The Mass of the Lord\u2019s Supper<\/strong> at the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians<\/strong> will begin at 6:30 p.m.<\/strong>, presided over by the current Superior of the Special Circumscription of Piedmont and Valle d\u2019Aosta (ICP)<\/strong>, Fr. Leonardo Mancini<\/strong>. The celebration will be streamed live by the Piedmont television network Rete7<\/strong>, followed by Eucharistic Adoration<\/strong> in the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 3<\/strong>, Good Friday<\/strong>, the central celebration will be the Liturgy of the Lord\u2019s Passion<\/strong>, presided over by Fr. Michele Viviano<\/strong> en la 6:30 p.m.<\/strong>, also streamed live by Rete7<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Solemn Easter Vigil<\/strong> in the Basilica, the high point of the Easter Triduum<\/strong>, will take place at 9:00 p.m.<\/strong> el Holy Saturday, April 4<\/strong>, presided over by the parish priest, Fr. Guido Dutto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, on April 5<\/strong>, Easter Sunday<\/strong>, Masses will follow the major feast schedule, with seven Eucharistic celebrations throughout the day: 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 9:00 p.m.<\/strong> There will also be Eucharistic Adoration<\/strong> y Second Vespers<\/strong> en la 4:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this way, the Basilica Shrine of Mary Help of Christians<\/strong> in Turin<\/strong> aims to offer the entire community and the faithful a rich liturgical and spiritual program, while renewing spiritual closeness and prayer for the people living in the land where Jesus lived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
