Human by Choice in the Age of AI,\u201d Organized by Avvenire and IUSVE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(<strong>ANS \u2013 Vatican<\/strong>) \u2013 Eight stages, eight multimedia content packages, and eight parts of the body to help us understand that information concerns us as human beings and therefore cannot be entirely delegated to Artificial Intelligence. This is the starting point for the project \u201cCi Sto! Human by Choice in the Age of AI,\u201d which beginning Thursday, <strong>May 14, 2026<\/strong>, will see a training course take shape week by week, designed for young people and those who support them: teachers, parents, educators, and community leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative was designed and implemented by the <strong>Salesian University Institute of Venice (IUSVE)<\/strong>, affiliated with the <strong>Salesian Pontifical University<\/strong>, in collaboration with the daily newspaper <strong>Avvenire<\/strong> y <strong>Gigio Rancilio<\/strong>, a journalist specializing in digital media. It also benefits from the collaboration of the <strong>CEI Office for Social Communications<\/strong> and the support of <strong>Generali<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inspired by the teachings of <strong>Pope Leo XIV<\/strong>, and in particular by the message for the 60th <strong>World Day of Social Communications<\/strong>, to be celebrated on Sunday, <strong>May 17<\/strong>, the project was presented in <strong>St. Peter\u2019s Square<\/strong> at the conclusion of the audience on Wednesday, <strong>May 13<\/strong>. Beginning the following day, multimedia content created for the occasion by <strong>IUSVE<\/strong> faculty members, journalists, and communications professionals will be made available free of charge. Every Thursday, in a dedicated section of the website of <strong>Avvenire<\/strong>, a text, video, podcast, and infographic will be published to ensure the widest possible accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.avvenire.it?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">Avvenire<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each stage connects a specific theme related to the creation or consumption of news with a part of the human body:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Head<\/strong> (<strong>Marco Girardo<\/strong>, editor-in-chief of <strong>Avvenire<\/strong>): thinking about and understanding information with people at the center;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eyes<\/strong> (<strong>Anna Zuccaro<\/strong>, lecturer at <strong>IUSVE<\/strong>): how to protect ourselves from fake content we see;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ears<\/strong> (<strong>Mariagrazia Villa<\/strong>, lecturer at <strong>IUSVE<\/strong>): who controls the news that reaches us;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mouth\/Voice<\/strong> (<strong>Nicol\u00f2 Cappelletti<\/strong>, lecturer at <strong>IUSVE<\/strong>): social media only show you what you want to hear;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Heart<\/strong> (<strong>Giovanni Fasoli<\/strong>, lecturer at <strong>IUSVE<\/strong>): understanding the world without oversimplifying it;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Feet\/Legs<\/strong> (<strong>Lucia Capuzzi<\/strong>, special correspondent for <strong>Avvenire<\/strong>): going out and reporting; journalists in the field;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Whole Body<\/strong> (<strong>Matteo Adamoli<\/strong>, lecturer at <strong>IUSVE<\/strong>): school and family working together to learn about digital technology;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bonus Track \u2013 The Toolbox<\/strong>: which digital tools to use to remain human.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe live in a digital ecosystem that does more than just connect us: it guides us,\u201d commented <strong>Marco Girardo<\/strong>, Editor-in-Chief of <strong>Avvenire<\/strong>. \u201cThat is why today, true competence is not just about using the tools, but learning to engage with them with awareness, critical thinking, and humanity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is precisely the goal of the project, \u201ca media literacy initiative,\u201d emphasized <strong>Fr. Nicola Giacopini<\/strong>, Director of <strong>IUSVE<\/strong>, \u201ctailored for those who every day find themselves dealing with smartphones, social media, AI, and digital platforms without always having the right tools to fully understand their logic and consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is a project that I am convinced will be very useful to students, young people, teachers, educators, and parents both within and outside the Catholic world,\u201d noted <strong>Gigio Rancilio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFaced with technological evolution and the challenges of AI,\u201d observed <strong>Vincenzo Corrado<\/strong>, Director of the <strong>Office for Social Communications of the Italian Episcopal Conference<\/strong>, \u201cwe are called to a greater sense of responsibility \u2014 above all, as <strong>Leo XIV<\/strong> invites us to do \u2014 to safeguard human voices and faces. Education thus becomes fundamental.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe quality of information and people\u2019s awareness of the risks and opportunities offered by AI are essential requirements for an open, future-oriented society,\u201d warned <strong>Simone Bemporad<\/strong>, Group Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer at <strong>Generali<\/strong>. \u201cThis is why we decided to support this project, which we believe can tangibly promote awareness among citizens, particularly the younger generation, and encourage participation in the life of the communities to which they feel they belong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Promoters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>IUSVE<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Salesian University Institute of Venice (IUSVE)<\/strong>, an institution affiliated with the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the <strong>Pontifical Salesian University<\/strong> in <strong>Roma<\/strong>, educates more than 2,300 students each year across three academic areas: Communication and Education, Psychology, and Pedagogy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The academic program includes five undergraduate degree programs, five master\u2019s degree programs, and various postgraduate opportunities, all aimed at developing advanced professional and personal skills. The campuses in <strong>Venice Mestre<\/strong> y <strong>Verona<\/strong> host the student community, along with an additional 135 students enrolled in advanced training courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Luigi \u201cGigio\u201d Rancilio<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Luigi \u201cGigio\u201d Rancilio<\/strong>, journalist and media educator, served as social media manager for the daily newspaper <strong>Avvenire<\/strong> for 11 years. For eight years, he edited the newspaper\u2019s \u201cVite digitali\u201d (\u201cDigital Lives\u201d) column, which has recently been published as a book by <strong>Vita e Pensiero<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Avvenire<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Avvenire<\/strong> is a Catholic-inspired national daily newspaper distributed throughout <strong>Italy<\/strong>.
