(ANS \u2013 Seoul) \u2013 In an atmosphere of deep prayer and vibrant hope, more than 300 members of the Salesian Family<\/strong> gathered on July 10<\/strong> in the chapel of the Salesian Provincial House in Seoul<\/strong> for the \u201cSalesian Family WYD Kick-off Mass,\u201d marking the beginning of preparations for World Youth Day 2027 in Seoul<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salesians (SDB)<\/strong>, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA)<\/strong>, Cooperadores Salesianos<\/strong>, ADMA members<\/strong>, Volunteers of Don Bosco<\/strong>, Past Pupils<\/strong>, lay collaborators, and young people from the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM)<\/strong> came together to welcome the WYD Cross<\/strong> and the Icon of Mary<\/strong>, which were solemnly enthroned before the altar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presiding over the Eucharist, Fr Marcello Baek Kwang-hyun<\/strong>, Provincial, reflected on the transforming power of the Cross. \u201cThough often seen as a sign of suffering,\u201d he said, \u201cwhen united with the anxieties and wounds of our young people, the Cross becomes a source of new hope.\u201d He encouraged participants to entrust their deepest prayers to the Cross, reminding them: \u201cYou are not alone. The Lord walks with you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a moving moment, the chapel lights were dimmed as young people approached the Cross, attaching written prayers and personal intentions. The gesture became a powerful sign of surrender and trust. Music by the Bosco Praise Band<\/strong> and reflective hymns deepened the spirit of recollection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A young participant, Maria Kim Ye-seul<\/strong>, shared her WYD<\/strong> testimony, describing how the Lisbon experience<\/strong> helped her rediscover God\u2019s loving plan amid uncertainty. \u201cThe love I received,\u201d she said, \u201cmust now become love that gives praise to God in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fr Michael Jang Dong-hyun<\/strong>, Chair of the Salesian WYD Preparation Committee<\/strong>, announced that during WYD 2027<\/strong>, a major Salesian youth festival will gather 3,000 to 5,000 young people from around the world, combining reflection, dialogue, and celebration in the spirit of Don Bosco<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WYD Cross<\/strong> and the Icon of Mary<\/strong> will remain in the Provincial chapel for days of prayer with youth groups. For the Salesian Family of Korea<\/strong>, this celebration marked more than a beginning\u2014it was a clear sign that, leaning on the Lord\u2019s Cross, anxieties can truly be transformed into hope.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
