Joan Lluis Play\u00e0<\/strong>, the <strong>Rector Major\u2019s<\/strong> Delegate for the <strong>Salesian Family<\/strong>, reflected on the path of <strong>Animation and Accompaniment (A+A)<\/strong> within the <strong>Salesian Family<\/strong>, drawing inspiration from the presentation of the fifth edition of the <strong>Ratio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Starting Point: The Good Shepherd<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fr. Play\u00e0<\/strong> recounted that, during the presentation of the new volume, he contemplated the painting of the <strong>Good Shepherd<\/strong> that presides over the apse of the chapel. In the image, one hand supports the lost sheep while the other offers the Book of the Word, recalling the verse <em>\u201cUt filios Dei qui erant dispersi congregaret in unum\u201d<\/em> (<strong>Jn 11:52<\/strong>). This image inspired a reflection on the mission to \u201cgather into one\u201d all those who, scattered throughout the world, feel called to entrust their lives to the Kingdom of Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The \u201cAnimation and Accompaniment\u201d Booklet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Delegate presented the work carried out by the <strong>Secretariat of the Salesian Family<\/strong>: a booklet titled <strong>\u201cAnimation and Accompaniment in the Salesian Family\u201d (A+A)<\/strong>, with the subtitle, <em>\u201cWalking Together to Be More of a Prophecy and a Gift to the Church\u2026 for the Young and the Poor of the World.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This resource addresses several practical needs, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Overcoming existing shortcomings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing formation for delegates and those involved in the service of <strong>Animation and Accompaniment<\/strong> within the <strong>Salesian Family<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encouraging a deeper understanding of the <strong>Charismatic Identity Charter of the Salesian Family<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting the challenge of walking together while growing in a sense of belonging and the spirit of communion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Helping broaden the culture of the <strong>Salesian Family<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fr. Play\u00e0<\/strong> candidly highlighted several challenges observed over the years in accompanying the <strong>Salesian Family<\/strong>, including a tendency to overlook <strong>Don Bosco\u2019s<\/strong> charismatic vision, a lack of mutual understanding of the deeper identity of the various Groups, and the need to place greater emphasis on the <strong>Charismatic Identity Charter<\/strong>\u2014for example, by presenting it alongside the Constitutions at the time of first profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He clarified, however, that these observations were not intended as criticism, but rather as an invitation to \u201cwalk together, convinced that we are bearers of a prophecy\u201d to be offered to young people, the <strong>Church<\/strong>, and the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Richness of the Salesian Family<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite these challenges, the Delegate emphasized the many strengths present within the <strong>Salesian Family<\/strong>, including the vitality of its Groups, the richness of its charisms\u2014including religious, consecrated laypeople, lay associations, and movements\u2014the shared mission among the poorest, and the spirit of holiness that characterizes the Family\u2019s spirituality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The evening prayer concluded with a prayer to <strong>St. John Bosco<\/strong>, asking that all members of the <strong>Salesian Family<\/strong> be granted \u201ca heart full of goodness, perseverance in work, wisdom in discernment, courage to bear witness to the spirit of the Church, and missionary generosity.\u201d<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(ANS \u2013 Rome) \u2013 In his \u201cgoodnight\u201d to the Sacred Heart community on Monday, July 21, 2026, Fr.
