\nNewly appointed Delegate for Salesian Family<\/p>\n

Elizabeth Gamarra was recently appointed Salesian Family Delegate for the St. Andrew’s Province of the Western United States (SUO).\u00a0 Since 2011, Liz has been a member of the Salesian Family Commission.\u00a0 She collaborated with past Delegates, Frs. Jerry Bonjean, Chris Woerz, Tom Juarez, and more recently, Fr. Joseph Farias.\u00a0 She has also worked closely with the FMA Salesian Family Delegate, Sister Guadalupe Medina.<\/p>\n

These valuable and enriching experiences have brought the groups closer together and given them the opportunity to learn from each other, exchange best practices, and celebrate the family spirit.\u00a0\u00a0Liz values the groups’ special gifts, their apostolates and dedication to their ministries. She considers their desire to work closer together a valuable quality that will facilitate the continued growth of the Salesian Family.<\/p>\n

Liz\u00a0is a Salesian Cooperator and\u00a0has been part of the St. Joseph’s Local Center in Rosemead, California for the past twenty years.\u00a0 She\u00a0was elected\u00a0 the Inter American Region’s\u00a0Area North Representative, which includes East and West United States and Canada (SUE, SUO, CAN),\u00a0 position she held for six years.\u00a0\u00a0Five years ago,\u00a0she was elected as the SUO Cooperators’ Provincial Coordinator serving in that capacity for three and half years.\u00a0\u00a0Liz has also had the opportunity to\u00a0be involved in numerous projects, such as the organization of the last four Salesian Family\u00a0Days in the Province as well as annual celebration of the SDB’s anniversaries.\u00a0 \u00a0 She\u00a0was a Board member of the Salesian Boys and Girls Club in Boyle Heights and\u00a0has\u00a0been part of\u00a0various Finance Committees.\u00a0 Liz considers\u00a0all of them true blessings and\u00a0great opportunities to serve, celebrate our\u00a0Salesianity, and strengthen our Spirituality so that we can better serve the Church,<\/p>\n

In her new assignment, Liz\u00a0intends to\u00a0focus on\u00a0strengthening our Salesian Family’s spirit of unity, making the groups\u00a0in our Province better known and enabling our way of life to become more attractive to laity that wish to join\u00a0our groups.\u00a0 She aims to adhere and promote the guidelines established by the Charter of the Charismatic Identity of the Salesian Family of Don Bosco,\u00a0developed\u00a0and presented to the Salesian movement\u00a0by\u00a0Don Pascual Chavez, our former Rector Major, so that we can all\u00a0“know and assimilate the Charism of Don Bosco in our personal life and that of our Groups.”<\/p>\n
