The gathering will continue through October 24 at the Villa de Sales conference center in Medellín, Colombia.

The Salesian Province of St. Louis Bertrand (COM) is hosting the meeting, which provides a space for communion, reflection, and discernment. Its goal is to strengthen collaboration in service of the Salesian mission throughout the continent, under the theme “Through Networking, the Dream Continues.”

Participants were welcomed by Fr. Ariel Guerrero Castro, provincial of COM; Fr. Hernán Carmona, provincial delegate for Youth Ministry; and Fr. Gustavo Maury, provincial economer. Also in attendance were Fr. Rafael Bejarano, general councilor for Youth Ministry; Fr. Carlos Méndez, coordinator for Youth Ministry in the Americas; Fr. Gabriel Romero, councilor for the America South Cone Region; and Fr. Hugo Orozco, councilor for the Interamerica Region, along with representatives from various Salesian networks active throughout the continent.

The meeting aims to strengthen coordination among provinces and Salesian networks by encouraging the exchange of experiences, identifying common challenges, and developing opportunities for collaboration that bring together expertise and resources in support of the educational and evangelizing mission.

The goal is to continue building a more cohesive Salesian presence throughout the Americas, one capable of responding to the challenges facing young people today and grounded in a spirit of communion and shared responsibility.

The opening day featured a welcome in the true Salesian spirit, inspired by Colombia’s Pastoral Proposal for 2026–2028: “Come, Discover, and Experience a Journey with Christ.” Through this experience, participants were invited to embark on a journey of faith and mission, during which the guiding principles for the path ahead, rooted in the Salesian charism, were presented.

The day concluded with a fellowship gathering organized by the provincial, who welcomed those in attendance. Vallenato music, an expression of Colombia’s rich cultural heritage, added joy and fostered a sense of unity at the beginning of the continental meeting.

Over the coming days, the Provincials and Delegates will explore priorities in Salesian youth ministry, the strengthening of networks, coordination processes, and the relationship between youth ministry and formation. Discussions will also include the adoption of the new Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis et Studiorum.

These opportunities for dialogue and discernment aim to renew the participants’ commitment to working together, recognizing that the shared mission grows stronger when experiences, knowledge, and resources are placed at the service of common goals.

(ANS – Medellín – October 20, 2026) – The continental meeting of Salesian Provincials and Delegates for Youth Ministry in the Americas began on Monday, October 19, 2026.
