Wednesday, 16 November 2022 – Day 2

(Los Angeles, California – USA) <\/strong>– The Rector Major made a visit to Bishop Mora Salesian High School in Los Angeles. Students from the Salesian drumline welcomed Don Angel and led him into a gym-filled crowd of the school. Playing the guitar along with the student mariachi band, the Rector Major thrilled the students with his musical talent. Following the gathering with the school community, the Rector Major toured the school, met with students, and stayed for lunch with student animators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later in the evening, parishioners from three of our Salesian parish presences Santa Isabel Church, St. Mary\u2019s Church, and St. Bridget’s Church gathered with the Rector Major for a simple prayer led by the youth ministry group. Don Angel gave a brief message encouraging the diverse assembly that was gathered to continue to come together and create a strong Salesian presence within the community. Following the prayer, the young people led the Rector Major to the Salesian Family Youth Center where a festive oratory celebration was going to be held. A group of local scouts led the assembly in a flag ceremony. Throughout the evening the Rector Major enjoyed various cultural performances by young people of the Salesian Youth Movement of Los Angeles. From a Chinese operetta by the young people of St. Bridget Chinese Catholic Church, ballet folklorico and a youth mariachi band to feasting on homemade pozole soup and Chinese roasted pork, the community celebrated the rich diversity of the one Salesian community in Los Angeles. The Rector Major concluded the evening with a Good Night and a special blessing of Mary Help of Christians. Day two of the Rector Major\u2019s visit was filled with celebration and the sharing of the gifts and talents of the young\u2014the heart of the Salesian Mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
