Now that we know how prevalent stroke is from last week\u2019s statistics (1 in 6 people), I feel it is prudent for us to review the warning signs so that we can render help right away. The following is from the American Stroke Association. It is very well written. I hope you find time reading it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

F.A.S.T. Warning Signs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use the letters in F.A.S.T. to spot a Stroke<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

F = Face Drooping<\/strong> \u2013 Does one side of the face droop or is it numb? Ask the person to smile. Is the person\u2019s smile uneven?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A = Arm Weakness <\/strong>\u2013 Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S = Speech Difficulty<\/strong> \u2013 Is speech slurred?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

T = Time to call 911<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Stroke Symptoms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watch for Sudden:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NUMBNESS<\/strong> or weakness of face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONFUSION<\/strong>, trouble speaking or understanding speech<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TROUBLE SEEING<\/strong> in one or both eyes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TROUBLE WALKING<\/strong>, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEVERE HEADACHE<\/strong> with no known cause<\/p>\n\n\n\n
