He currently also serves as “Defender of the Bond and Promoter of Justice” at the Interdiocesan Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Piedmont and, in recent years, has taught Canon Law on several occasions.
Fr. Giorgio accepts this appointment in a spirit of obedience and will take up his duties at the end of Fr. Leonardo Mancini’s term of office. The Regional Councillor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr. Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, expressed his heartfelt thanks to Fr. Mancini for the generous pastoral service rendered at the head of the Province.
In announcing the appointment, the Regional Councillor thanked, on behalf of the Rector Major and the General Council, the confreres who took part in the consultation, emphasizing how such collaboration represents a significant source of fraternal encouragement for the new Provincial.
Fr. Leonardo Mancini, in announcing the appointment to the Province, also expressed gratitude for the willingness shown by Fr. Giorgio and assured him of his support through prayer, so that the Lord may fill him with the gifts necessary for his ministry as father and guide of the provincial community and the Salesian Family in the region.
The Rector Major and the General Council send their best wishes and blessings to the new leader of the ICP, invoking the intercession of Mary Help of Christians and the Salesian Saints, that they may accompany the journey of the Circumscription in the service of the Church and young people.
