In The Salesian Parish of Saint Dominic Savio, there exists a remarkable group that has been silently changing lives across borders for over 45 years. The Salesian Alumni Union “Without Borders,” (Ex-alumnos Salesianos Sin Fronteras) , a community mainly of Latin origin, has been working tirelessly to support various Salesian initiatives facing challenging economic circumstances. Through their breakfasts, dances, and unwavering commitment, they have proven that true compassion knows no boundaries.
This inspiring journey began with the vision of Mrs. Berta Cardoso of Montealban, and over the decades, it has evolved into a profound movement that embodies the Salesian spirit of service and love. Their mission has always been clear: to offer a helping hand to Salesian orphanages, churches, and oratories worldwide that are in need.
One of the group’s recent endeavors was to support the Salesian Mission in Iquique, northern Chile. In this remote region, they found the “Jesus of Nazareth” Camp, a haven for children and young people. The camp, complete with an oratory and a chapel, offers shelter and guidance to those who need it most.
This particular Sunday, the Salesian alumni rallied together with an inspiring display of solidarity. Traditional dishes like Pupusas, Pozole, Menudo, and mouth watering hamburgers made from top-quality meat were on the menu. Not stopping there, they also sold traditional clothing, plants, and other items to raise funds for the cause. It was a true feast for the senses, and every bite and purchase meant another step towards building a brighter future for the Salesian Mission in Iquique.
What makes this group truly remarkable is their unwavering dedication despite facing various challenges. Many of their members have gracefully entered their golden years, and the number of volunteers has fluctuated over time. Yet, their commitment remains unshaken. They are driven by a shared dream, one that echoes the visionary ideals of Don Bosco, and they continue to carry that dream forward to impact lives around the world.

They are living proof that when a community comes together with a shared vision, they can transcend boundaries and make a profound impact on the lives of others. Let their story inspire us all to reach out, lend a hand, and work tirelessly to make the world a better place.
