In October 2023, the Delegates of Mission Animation of the Inter-America Region (DIAM) gathered in Quito for a meeting full of vitality and passion for the mission. One of the essential aspects of this meeting was the evaluation of the regional plan for missionary animation created a year ago by the same team. This is the first time that evaluation matrices were used that helped the group see the effectiveness of the actions carried out during 2022-2023.
To present some of the results, we can say that 100% of the provinces of the Inter-America Region have a Missionary Animation Delegate, and 62% have promoted the Salesian Missionary Journey in the local provinces. This gives us a clear idea of what we are doing as a region and what has been achieved during this last year and allows us to take corrective actions that will help us improve the incidence at the provincial level.
The meeting is not only to evaluate but also to plan and create a new Annual Operational Plan for the delegates of missionary animation in the region. This year, they planned how to promote Salesian missionary volunteering, the missionary formation document for the SDBs, and missionary solidarity in the provinces of the region, among other activities.
The delegates ended the meeting positively and were grateful to see that, as a region, we are moving in the right direction.
