Come and See Retreat in Laredo Texas

By Raul Salazar

Hello! I’m Raul Salazar from San Luis Rey Church in Laredo, Texas. I am excited to share our experience from the Come and See Retreat held at the San Luis Rey Youth Center two weeks ago (February 3rd-4th). The Vocation Team thoughtfully crafted the retreat with support from the Youth Ministry Team here in Laredo. Our aim was to bring together young adults from Laredo and provide them with an opportunity to feel rejuvenated, closer to God, and refreshed.

Throughout the retreat, our hosts organized various activities. One activity I particularly enjoyed was the opportunity to visualize our dreams. Personally, my dream is to achieve a balance in life encompassing spirituality, health, and work to attain true happiness. Others shared dreams of becoming doctors or lawyers, owning businesses, or even whimsical aspirations like being a combination of Batman and Jesus. After completing the activity, we engaged in discussions about the significance of our dreams. We explored how they provide us with goals and hope, encouraging us not to fear taking action to pursue them. This reflection allowed us to understand that sometimes, like Saint Don Bosco, our dreams may not make sense until later in life.

Participating in the retreat was a truly enriching experience, allowing me to focus on my aspirations and forge connections with others. A heartfelt thank you to the Vocational Team and the San Luis Rey Youth Ministry Team for making this experience possible.

Sincerely,
Raul Salazar
