Holy Week Retreats at St. Mary’s and St. Isabel’s Salesian Parishes

By Louis Chacon

This spiritual journey kicked off with the launch of the new Don Bosco Club, meeting every Friday afternoon at St. Isabel’s Parish. Led by Mrs. Belkys, discussions with kids and teens began, focusing on the importance of Palm Sunday. These chats set the stage for the upcoming retreats, fostering a space for reflection and growth.

On Monday, simultaneous retreats for children were held at both St. Mary’s and St. Isabel’s Parishes. Led by Salesian Volunteer Mario Barrios at St. Mary’s and Luis Chacón at St. Isabel’s, young participants embarked on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual exploration, guided by Don Bosco’s teachings.

Tuesday saw the coming together of youth retreats in both parishes. Here, teenagers found comfort and inspiration, taking part in activities aimed at deepening their understanding of the Easter story and its relevance to their lives.

Finally, on Wednesday, adults from both communities gathered for a retreat tailored to their spiritual needs. Through prayer, reflection, and heartfelt conversations, participants found solace and inspiration in the shared journey toward Easter.

These retreats have been transformative experiences, not only for individuals but for the entire fabric of both parishes. Participants have emerged with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper commitment to their communities. Through shared experiences and mutual support, bonds have been strengthened, nurturing the Salesian spirit within everyone involved.

As Holy Week culminates with Easter Sunday, the impact of these retreats continues to resonate within St. Mary’s and St. Isabel’s Parishes. They serve as a reminder of the enduring power of faith and community, showing us all the profound effect that spiritual connection can have on our lives. In the spirit of Don Bosco, may these experiences keep inspiring and uplifting us, guiding us toward a future filled with hope, love, and unity.
