Congratulations to graduating seniors Wesley Bulthuis, Trevor Cliffton, and Anthony Ramirez who have earned the ranking of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America. Nationally, only six percent of Boy Scouts earn Eagle, a lengthy and arduous commitment.
Wesley Bulthuis (CSEE ‘24) (left): From Troop 174 in Temple City, Wesley has been a scout since 2017. His Eagle Scout project focused on the maintenance and restoration of the Mt. Wilson Historical Trail for the Sierra Madre Conservancy, a distance of approximately 1.3 miles. The work included brushing, digging drainages, backtrailing/flattening of certain areas, as well as the coordination of the cutting and removal of a tree trunk which had fallen across the trail. Wesley is mechanical/design lead in the Tech’s competitive FIRST Robotics Team. He completed a summer internship at The Boeing Company last summer.
Still considering his many college acceptances, Wesley plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. He said that, from Bosco Tech, “I will take with me my work ethic, willingness to learn, and ambition to be my best.”
Trevor Cliffton (MAT) (center) Trevor is part of La Canada’s Troop 502. His Eagle Scout project was to build and install a gate at his local church, as well as refinishing rusted fencing. Since the church did not have a gate to separate and secure the back area of the property, equipment was often stolen. The new gate requires a key, eliminating future theft. Trevor will attend Pasadena City College in the fall, with plans to USC as a business major.
“One thing I will take with me from Bosco Tech is the brotherhood,” he said. “You don’t really realize it when you start as a freshman, but the people you meet here are lifelong friendships. I value all of them.”
Anthony Ramirez (ACE ‘24) (left): Anthony is a part of SanMarino’s Troop 355. His Eagle Scout project focused on refurbishing a wall in the ACE department’s classroom. He and his team cut, sanded and installed birch plywood paneling. They also replaced existing door and window trim with matching birch. They then stained and coated all the wooden surfaces. Anthony is the co-founder and co-president of Tech’s Chess Club and a member of NHS, SNHS, Ambassadors, and the FRC robotics team. He will attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he will study Civil Engineering and participate in the Army ROTC program.
Great job, gentlemen!
