A College Tour to Spark Youth Dreams

A Summary from Salesian Family Youth Center Instagram Posts

(Los Angeles, California) – During the week of Thanksgiving, forty-five incredible young people from the Salesian Family Youth Center programs embarked on a life-changing college tour of the San Francisco Bay Area. This experience was a turning point for many, shaping their dreams, opening new possibilities, and guiding their decisions about universities to apply to. Their college visits included Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and California State University East Bay.

The group also visited Saints Peter and Paul Church in San Francisco, where pastor Father Tho Bui, SDB, graciously welcomed them. Fr. Tho led them on a captivating tour of the iconic church, sharing insights into its rich history, the beginnings of the Salesian presence in the United States, and the inspiring story of Don Bosco. His hospitality extended beyond the church tour, providing snacks and beverages to energize the young people for the remainder of their trip. This experience deepened the young people’s connection to their Salesian roots and highlighted the warmth and generosity that define a Salesian community. The group was very grateful for Fr. Tho’s heartfelt welcome and for enriching their understanding of their Salesian heritage!

This trip would not have been possible without the support of many generous and dedicated people. The young people are grateful to the donors, volunteers, staff, and families who made this journey possible. Such belief in young people and their potential paves the way for their bright futures.
