“If Christ had not Risen, our Faith would be in vain” (1 Cor 15:14-19). All that Jesus said, all the signs He worked, would have counted for nothing except that the tomb where He was buried was empty, and an angel proclaimed, “You seek Jesus. He is not here, He is risen.” And for many days, He began a multitude of appearances to prove He was all He said He was.
Jesus did rise, and He did ascend into heaven. He had promised to send the Holy Spirit, and He was true to His word. Peter, led by the Spirit, traveled to the home of a Roman Centurion at the seaport town of Caesarea. It is there that Peter invoked the name of the risen Jesus to convert the Roman, his family, household, and guests to the Risen Jesus. Through the power of the Resurrection, “everyone who believes in [Jesus] will receive forgiveness of sins through his name.” Into Jesus they were baptized. “HALLELUJA! Let us rejoice and be glad.”
Paul, to the Colossians, spoke to us of being raised up with Christ precisely in faith and Baptism, and he said, “For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory.” Glory to God! He gives us new life and a share in His own Glory revealed in the Resurrection, both now and forever. Let us redouble our faith this Easter time that in Jesus, we are already glorified and will be more so at our resurrection from the dead.
The only eyewitness author of the Crucifixion and death of Jesus among the Evangelists was John. Mary, Mother of Jesus was there. Also, Mary’s sister and Mary Magdalen. That gives John’s account special value, even though scholars may endlessly dispute the Gospel’s true authorship.
According to John’s Gospel, the first evidence of the Resurrection was seen before dawn by Mary Magdalen: the stone rolled back, burial cloths neatly folded. In panic, she ran to the Upper Room and informed Peter and John. Now they raced to the tomb and found it as Mary said. Mary followed, and SHE was the first to see Jesus who at first she took to be the gardener. But her heart leaped to belief when gently he called, ”Mary.”
Yes, an empty tomb, confusion, but the beginning of Faith.
Lord Jesus, we too believe.
¡El Señor Ha Resucitado! ¡Aleluya!

“Si Cristo no hubiera resucitado, nuestra fe sería en vano” (1 Co 15, 14-19). Todo lo que Jesús dijo, todas las señales que obró, no habrían valido nada, excepto que la tumba donde fue enterrado estaba vacía, y un ángel proclamó: “Vosotros buscáis a Jesús. Él no está aquí, Él ha resucitado”. Y durante muchos días comenzó una multitud de apariciones para demostrar que era todo lo que decía que era.
Jesús resucitó, y ascendió al cielo. Él había prometido enviar el Espíritu Santo, y fue fiel a Su palabra. Pedro, guiado por el Espíritu, viajó al hogar de un centurión romano en la ciudad portuaria de Cesarea. Es allí donde Pedro invocó el nombre de Jesús resucitado para convertir al romano, a su familia, a su hogar y a sus invitados a Jesús resucitado. Por medio del poder de la Resurrección, “todo el que cree en [Jesús] recibirá el perdón de los pecados por medio de su nombre”. En Jesús fueron bautizados. “¡ALELUYA! Regocijémonos y alegrémonos”.
Pablo, a los Colosenses, nos habló de haber sido resucitados con Cristo precisamente en la fe y en el bautismo, y dijo: “Porque vosotros habéis muerto, y vuestra vida está escondida con Cristo en Dios. Cuando Cristo se manifieste tu vida, entonces tú también aparecerás con él en gloria.”¡Gloria a Dios! Él nos da nueva vida y una participación en Su propia Gloria revelada en la Resurrección, tanto ahora como para siempre. Redoblemos nuestra fe en este tiempo de Pascua de que en Jesús ya somos glorificados y lo seremos más en nuestra resurrección de entre los muertos.
El único testigo ocular autor de la crucifixión y muerte de Jesús entre los evangelistas fue Juan. Allí estaba María, Madre de Jesús. También, la hermana de María y María Magdalena. Eso le da al relato de Juan un valor especial, a pesar de que los eruditos pueden disputar interminablemente la verdadera autoría del Evangelio.
Según el Evangelio de Juan, la primera evidencia de la Resurrección fue vista antes del amanecer por María Magdalena: la piedra rodada, los lienzos funerarios cuidadosamente doblados. Presa del pánico, corrió al Aposento Alto e informó a Pedro y a Juan. Entonces corrieron al sepulcro y lo encontraron, como María dijo. María la siguió, y fue la primera en ver a Jesús, quien al principio tomó por el jardinero. Pero su corazón saltó a la fe cuando él lo llamó suavemente: “María”.
Sí, una tumba vacía, confusión, pero el comienzo de la Fe.
Señor Jesús, nosotros también creemos.
