By Mr. Tom Yu (MSET ’15), MSET Instructor

(Rosemead, California) – The American Foundry Society (AFS) recently hosted a casting competition in which Material Science, Engineering & Technology (MSET) students, led by Mr. Alejandro Martinez, participated. There were monetary prizes for the top four casting entries and the best in school (one prize per person). The Tech’s MSET students swept the contest! We won all the top four prizes and actually have two people tied for fourth…so we overswept? Here are the results:
• 1st – $700 – Enrique Perez – Freshman
• 2nd – $500 – Sean Cortez – Junior
• 3rd – $350 – Jacob Rooney – Senior
• 4th – $250 – Mario Barbosa – Junior
• 4th – $250 – Hovan Kuftedjian – Junior
• BiS – $200 – Vincent Hernandez – Senior
Additionally, the following students got participation awards ($25 Starbucks gift card) that were based on score:
• Nathan Bobadilla – Junior
• Joshua Diaz – Freshman
• James Saballos – Senior
Congratulations, MSET team!
