(Los Angeles, California) – The video series of the World Novena of the Salesian Family to Mary Help of Christians begins with day one, “Being Children – Humility and Faith,” featuring St. Bernadette Soubirous.

This first video reflects on the profound humility and faith of Mary, particularly through the story of St. Bernadette Soubirous, who, at just 14 years old, experienced an apparition of the Virgin Mary in Lourdes.

The video message focuses on the trust between a child and their mother. And how Bernadette embraced Mary’s message and promises, despite her poverty. 

The message from The Rector Major points to Mary’s unwavering faith and humility, portraying Mary as a model for all believers to recognize their own smallness before God while staying strong in their faith.

Ultimately, the message encourages readers to have childlike trust in God’s promises and to cultivate a deep, serene faith that can withstand life’s trials, inspired by Mary’s example.

The video ends with the prayer of the unfaithful child:

“Mary, you who show yourself to those who are able to see, make my heart pure. Make me humble, little, able to lose myself in your mother’s embrace. Help me rediscover how important the role of a child is and mark my steps. You promise; I promise in a covenant that only a mother and child can make. I will fall, Mother. You know that I won’t always keep my promises. I won’t always trust you; I won’t always be able to see you, but you will stand there in silence, smiling, your arms and hands outstretched. I will always take the rosary and pray with you for all children like me.”
