(ANS – Méndez) – “I have some great news to share with you, something that brings me great joy. We have signed a cooperation agreement between the Apostolic Vicariate of Méndez and ‘Ecclesiared’ to digitize the information contained in the Vicariate’s parish archives,” announced the Apostolic Vicar, Salesian Bishop Néstor Montesdeoca Becerra, in a statement.
This is a significant step towards the modernization of the administrative and pastoral processes of the Apostolic Vicariate of Méndez. ‘As we are a marginal jurisdiction in Ecuador, with large distances between parishes, this opportunity to have the support of ‘Ecclesiared’ to facilitate and improve the administrative management of our parishes is very welcome,’ the statement continues.
‘Ecclesiared’ is a widely recognized digital tool used by thousands of parishes and hundreds of dioceses worldwide. It is a parish management platform designed to facilitate organization, administration, and ecclesial communication.
With this integration, all the parishes that make up the Ecuadorian Vicariate will be able to manage tasks such as searching for, locating, and delivering ecclesiastical documents to the faithful, as well as protecting and safeguarding the information in the parish registers, in a much more efficient manner. However, these will not be the only benefits that the renowned Spanish software will offer parishes, as parish priests will also be able to improve the management of their databases, calendars, internal communication between parishes, and external communication with their parishioners.
The decision to enter the so-called Digital Age that the Church is experiencing today responds to a pastoral vision that seeks to take advantage of technology to strengthen closeness with the community, improve transparency, and streamline ecclesiastical services.
In fact, as the Ecuadorian Salesian prelate recalled, the tool will not only serve to ‘unify and facilitate the information in parish books for the faithful’ but also to protect and preserve the history of the parishes of the Vicariate.
‘It is essential to safeguard the information of our parishes against possible dangers or risks such as fires, disasters or floods that could destroy physical archives, and ‘Ecclesiared’ will allow us to have a backup and an information bank where we can access information in a complete, fast, timely and centralized manner,’ he said.
To facilitate the implementation of the platform, members of ‘Ecclesiared’s’ technical team will hold various training sessions in the coming weeks to train the clergy, secretaries, and lay people who help in the parishes in the use of the tool.
“I am very excited and hopeful, and I am informing the clergy of everything this means and the advantages we will have. I hope that with the collaboration of ‘Ecclesiared,’ digitization will gradually become a reality and that we will thus be able to provide a better pastoral service to our people in this area of the Ecuadorian Amazon,” the bishop said.
With this initiative, the Vicariate of Méndez is at the forefront of the digital pastoral transformation that the Church is currently undergoing, reaffirming its commitment to being a Church that is close to the people, organized and prepared for the challenges of the present.
