Celebrating 50 Years of Sin Fronteras: A Legacy of the Salesian Charism and Mission

By Roxanne Gaete, President, Sin Fronteras

(Bellflower, California) – The USA Federation “Sin Fronteras” celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday, 23, 2025 at the parish St. Dominic Savio in Bellflower, California.

The “Sin Fronteras” story goes back to February 24, 1975. Our founder, Berta Cardoso, a past pupil from Cuba, formed this group. She had the vision of helping children and youth. Her aim was also empowering our community with the Salesian Charism.

Our celebration began with a Solemn Mass on Friday, August 9th. It was dedicated to the memory of all the past pupils that have departed. The closing celebration was on August 23rd. It featured a splendid dinner dance with more than 230 participants and their families. The event was in a festive environment with the Salesian community.

This year, we recognized our past pupil Maria Teresa Conti. She was honored for her hard work throughout all these years in our community.

With this event, we aimed to motivate the young generation who have been touched by the Salesian Charism. We invite them to join our group. In this way, our mission to young people will continue, and our union as Salesian past pupils will be renewed.
