(ANS – Facebook) – Commitment and spirit of sacrifice characterized her life as far as the supreme witness of martyrdom. When Pozoblanco fell under the power of the Republican regime, Teresa was arrested because of her Catholic militancy. In prison, while encouraging others, she was heard to say: “Jesus on the altar, Jesus on the cross, Jesus in the soul, a thousand times Jesus!” On leaving prison to face death, she said to her fellow prisoners: “See you in Heaven!” It was September 16, 1936. At the cemetery, the place of execution, she wanted to die last to encourage all her 16 comrades with the hope of eternal life. She was shot, forgiving her killers. She was beatified in Rome on October 28, 2007, with 497 other martyrs.
