(ANS – Rome) – After the launch on January 31, 2025, and the presentation at the 29th General Chapter, the www.donbosco.info search engine has been further improved and enriched with numerous new documents in various languages, surpassing the threshold of 10,000 searchable files. The interface in Italian and English has been updated and made more intuitive.
In view of the large number of documents in Spanish, French and Portuguese, a translation of the interface in these languages has also been added. For all other languages, the English interface remains available.
The structure of the document presentation has been completely reorganized: thematic categories have been introduced to facilitate browsing and to quickly narrow down the search when the results are too numerous.
The structure is the same for all languages, but categories only appear when there are documents available in that specific section. A special category has been added, called “References,” which brings together books used by Don Bosco and the Salesians in the drafting of their texts.
Pointing out and highlighting sources is an important contribution to research and study. The periodical publications have been completed and enriched with new collections. An information banner on the document from which the displayed page originates has been inserted in the results pages. The banner can be opened or closed with a simple click on the “i” (info) button.
The explanations of use in the “Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)” section have also been expanded and updated.
The portal also offers the possibility of consulting the “Concordances” (at the bottom of the page) of the “Published Works,” the “Biographical Memoirs,” and the “Complete Works of Saint Francis de Sales,” in the original languages. Direct access to the word searched in its context also allows the entire text to be read in HTML format and downloaded.
This service continues to be a precious instrument of Salesian knowledge, memory, and deepening, at the service of researchers, scholars, and all those who wish to deepen their understanding of the Salesian charism and spirituality.
