(ANS – Ho Chi Minh) – In the joyful atmosphere marking the beginning of the New Year, Don Bosco communities across Vietnam simultaneously organized the Spring Fair 2026 to celebrate the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. Inspired by the Salesian conviction that “education is a matter of the heart,” these celebrations brought together thousands of children and young people, offering them spaces of joy, faith, fraternity, and hope.
From the sun‑drenched central regions to coastal islands and highland areas, Salesian presences became true “common homes” for the young, fostering communion and friendship across geographical, social, and religious boundaries. At Don Bosco Ky Anh, more than one thousand young people from thirteen mission parishes participated in a vibrant celebration marked by the collaborative involvement of Salesian priests and brothers, FMA Sisters, and Salesian Cooperators. In the coastal island district of Can Gio, nearly six hundred children, including students from local public schools, were welcomed in a spirit of openness and inclusion. Don Bosco Ben Cat hosted seven hundred children from shelters, boarding houses, and oratories, creating a warm family atmosphere inspired by the Preventive System. At Huong Tran, the Spring Fair took on the character of a traditional village festival, drawing together Catholics and non‑Catholic neighbors in a joyful experience of encounter. Meanwhile, Don Bosco Da Lat recorded the largest participation, welcoming more than one thousand seven hundred young people from the apostolic outposts of Don Duong and Duc Trong.
At every location, the festivities were firmly rooted in faith through the celebration of the Eucharist on the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. The young were invited to experience their faith in concrete ways. In Ben Cat, the message of the Salesian Strenna 2026, “Do whatever He tells you,” was emphasized, encouraging attentive listening to God’s voice in daily life. At Huong Tran, the celebration inspired participants to embrace their vocation as missionary disciples, bringing Gospel values into their everyday activities. In Da Lat, the Rector invited the children to recognize God’s love through those who serve them, nurturing grateful and generous hearts.
More than simple fairs with food stalls and traditional games, the Spring Fairs became true educational playgrounds—living classrooms where joy and formation went hand in hand. Through games and group activities, children learned lessons in honesty, discipline, teamwork, and respect. At Don Bosco Da Lat, special attention was given to environmental awareness through the theme “Green Living Every Day,” encouraging responsibility toward creation and sustainable lifestyles. Joyful musical performances, magic shows, and small gift bags made the Salesian spirit tangible, embodying Saint John Bosco’s conviction that it is not enough to love the young; they must know that they are loved.
Although the Spring Fair 2026 has concluded, its echoes continue to resound in the hearts of the young. Their smiles, laughter, and simple words of gratitude remain the most meaningful fruits for the sons and daughters of Saint John Bosco. Entrusting the New Year to Mary, Mother of God, the Salesian communities accompany young people as they step forward with confidence, called to become small witnesses of joy, faith, and love in their families, schools, and communities.
