Publication of the Dossier and Poster of the Holiness of the Salesian Family 2025

(ANS – Rome) – As is traditional, at the beginning of the new year the Dossier and Poster of the Salesian Postulation relating to the previous year are presented. Salesian holiness is a river of life flowing through history: the numbers speak for themselves and reveal a significant spiritual heritage. As of December 31, 2025, the Salesian Family includes 11 Saints, 116 Blesseds, 20 Venerables, and 28 Servants of God.

These are not merely numbers on a list; they represent 175 stories of people who faced doubts, joys, and challenges and chose to respond “yes” to God’s love—in playgrounds, classrooms, families, mission lands, on sickbeds, and during times of persecution. Among them are men and women, young people and adults, consecrated and lay persons, bishops and missionaries who, in diverse historical, cultural, and social contexts across time and place, have made the Gospel of joy and the charism of Don Bosco shine with a unique light. Their example is not a treasure to be kept only for ourselves; it is a radiant gift for the entire Church and a message of hope for the whole world, as Pope Leo XIV said when he canonized seven new saints on October 19, 2025, including Maria Troncatti, Daughter of Mary Help of Christians: “They are luminous signs of hope for all of us because they offered their lives in the love of Christ and of their brothers and sisters.”

In the Dossier, after presenting the list and status of each Cause, the Postulator General for the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family, Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, also highlights the principal events of 2025, among which the following stand out: on May 17, 2025, in Chambéry, France, the beatification of Venerable Camillo Costa de Beauregard, a diocesan priest born in Chambéry on February 17, 1841, and who died there on March 25, 1910; and the canonization on October 19, 2025, by Pope Leo XIV, of Blessed Maria Troncatti (1883–1969), Daughter of Mary Help of Christians, missionary, mother, and artisan of peace and reconciliation.

At the conclusion of the Dossier, there is a reminder of the commitment to promote knowledge of, imitation of, and intercession through the members of the Salesian Family who are candidates for sainthood, valuing and fostering the various dimensions involved: liturgical-celebratory, spiritual, pastoral, ecclesial, educational, cultural, historical, social, and missionary.
