The Pontifical Salesian University Launches a “Mobile Video Content Creation” Workshop for Social Media

(ANS – Rome) – Every day, millions of videos are streamed across platforms and devices, yet only a few truly capture people’s attention. In response to this reality, the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) in Rome—through its Faculty of Social Communication Sciences (FSC)—is launching a “Mobile Video Content Creation” workshop. The course is designed to transform the smartphone into a professional tool and to teach participants how to communicate effectively, creatively, and thoughtfully using the language of today’s digital media.

The Mobile Video Content Creation workshop focuses on producing video content for social media, with a training approach centered on the skills required in today’s digital communication landscape and professional media environment.

Participants will learn how to film using a smartphone and edit short, clear, and effective content aligned with the styles of major platforms.

The three-day course (four hours per day) provides step-by-step guidance on producing professional videos for Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, while also offering a practical understanding of how these platforms—and their algorithms—work.

Special attention is given to integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into the creative and production process, with a thoughtful and responsible approach.

The course is designed for anyone interested in developing video production skills for social media—even beginners. It is particularly suited for students, religious, journalists, and professionals working in communication and media management, offering practical tools to better understand and coordinate communication processes in today’s digital environment.

Participants are only required to use their own smartphone—no additional equipment is necessary. The course emphasizes maximizing the tools already available and optimizing their use for professional purposes.

The workshop will be offered in two sessions: June 30–July 2, 2026y September 28–30, 2026, held in person at the FSC headquarters in Rome. Each session is limited to a maximum of 25 participants.

The workshop will be led by the following Salesian professors:

Fr. Maciej Makula, journalist and university lecturer with experience in television production and digital communication, specializing in mobile video content creation and the practical integration of digital tools and Artificial Intelligence; he has long supported communicators, educators, and pastoral workers in producing effective digital content

Fr. Donato Lacedonio, Associate Professor of Image Theory and Techniques, Director of ANS from 2005 to 2013, and communications coordinator for various institutional events of the Congregation; he currently teaches “Video Production” y “Theories of Audiovisual Forms and Narratives” at the FSC of the UPS
