Salesians Express Gratitude for Safe Release of Two Brothers in Dimapur Province

(ANS – Dimapur) – The Salesian Province of Dimapur has expressed profound gratitude to God and to civil society following the safe release of Br. Pamei Aching Albert, SDBy Br. Poji Kiivisie Peter, SDB, who had been held captive since the night of May 13, 2026, and were released on May 14.

In an official communication from the Don Bosco Provincial House in Dimapur, the Provincial, Fr. Joseph Pampackal, SDB, thanked all those whose coordinated efforts contributed to the positive outcome. He acknowledged in particular the involvement of civil society organizations, Church leaders, community elders, law enforcement authorities, and numerous well-wishers who worked tirelessly to ensure the safe return of the two young religious.

Fr. Pampackal also expressed appreciation to members of the Kuki community, who safeguarded the brothers during their time in captivity. He emphasized that, even amid tension and uncertainty, gestures of protection and goodwill reflected a spirit of reconciliation and mutual respect.

Addressing the confreres of the Province, the Provincial wrote:

“With hearts filled with gratitude to God, I am happy to inform you that our two Brothers, Cl. Pamei Aching Albert y Cl. Poji Kiivisie Peter, have been safely released from captivity tonight (May 14). We thank God for His providential care and protection over them, and for the loving and motherly intercession of Mary Help of Christians.”

He further conveyed appreciation for the prayers, fraternal closeness, and constant support shown by Salesian communities throughout the Province and beyond. He made special mention of the Vice Provincial, the Provincial Economer, and the Provincial Secretary for their generous availability and careful coordination during the ordeal.

Recalling the words of Scripture — “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God” (Mt 5:9) and “Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding” (Rom 14:19) — Fr. Pampackal reaffirmed the Salesians’ commitment to promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and peace in the region.

The safe release of the two brothers has been widely welcomed as a sign of hope. It has strengthened bonds among communities and renewed the resolve of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Dimapur to continue their educational and pastoral mission with faith, courage, and compassion, especially among young people and the most vulnerable.
