Fr. Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy Concludes Extraordinary Visitation of the IME Province with Presentation of the “Overview”

(ANS – Naples) – Fr. Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, SDB, Regional Councilor for the Mediterranean Region, has concluded his Extraordinary Visitation of the Blessed Michael Rua (IME) Province with the presentation of the “Overview,” the final document summarizing the six-month visitation conducted on behalf of the Rector Major.

Addressing Fr. Gianpaolo Roma, IME Provincial, Fr. Pérez Godoy opened the document by expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome and fraternal spirit he experienced throughout the visitation.

“These have been days lived in a genuine atmosphere of fraternity and family, which made me feel truly at home,” he wrote, thanking the Provincial, the Provincial Council, the Salesian communities, the Educative and Pastoral Communities, and the members of the Salesian Family for their hospitality and collaboration.

The “Overview” was formally presented on July 4 at the Provincial Center in Naples during a gathering of the province’s rectors.

The Extraordinary Visitation began on January 26 and included visits to every Salesian community in Southern Italy, Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro. During the six-month journey, Fr. Pérez Godoy met with Salesians, young people, educators, lay collaborators, staff members, and Educative and Pastoral Communities, listening to their experiences while sharing in the life and mission of each Salesian work.

The resulting report serves as an important resource for the province. Beyond offering an assessment of its current reality, it provides reflections, recommendations, and pastoral guidelines to help shape the province’s future in fidelity to Don Bosco’s charism and in response to the evolving needs of young people and local communities.

At the conclusion of the presentation, Fr. Pérez Godoy entrusted the IME Province to the protection of Mary Help of Christians and imparted his blessing as a sign of communion, gratitude, and hope for the future.

The Extraordinary Visitation provided the Salesian Family in Southern Italy with a valuable opportunity for listening, discernment, and renewal, recognizing both the strengths and the challenges of its ministries while identifying priorities for the years ahead.
