(ANS – Amatitán) – From July 27–29, 2026, Casa Betsaida in Amatitán, Jalisco, Mexico, hosted the Provincial Salesian Family (SF) Advisory Council of Mexico North. The gathering was an opportunity for encounter, dialogue, and discernment, bringing together representatives of the various groups of the Salesian Family. The meeting fostered charismatic communion and the shared definition of the educational and evangelizing mission in service of young people.

Participants included representatives of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), the Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (HHSSCC), the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA), the Past Pupils of Don Bosco (EX-SDB), the Mornese Association of Past Pupils (EXA-FMA), the Association of Salesian Cooperators (ASC), the Volunteers of Don Bosco (VDB), and the Volunteers with Don Bosco (CDB).

Furthermore, as a testament to the openness of the Salesian charism and the richness of the shared mission, representatives of groups and communities from the Christ the King and Mary Help of Christians Province of Mexico-Guadalajara (MEG) also participated. Inspired by the spirit of Don Bosco and known as the “Friends of Don Bosco,” these groups included the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), the “Agua Viva” Community, and the “Mamme Catechiste.”

Monday, July 27, was dedicated to exploring the meaning and purpose of the Provincial Advisory Council, understood as a space for communion, discernment, and shared responsibility among the various groups of the Salesian Family. Participants then worked in small groups to identify the main strengths and challenges facing the region.

Tuesday, July 28, was dedicated to reflection on the Charter of Charismatic Identity of the Salesian Family, a document that presents the shared mission, spirituality, and different levels of affiliation among the groups gathered around Don Bosco y Mary Help of Christians.

During the day, Fr. Francisco Cervantes, SDB, Superior of the Salesians of the MEG Province, expressed his gratitude to Fr. Osvaldo Gorzegno, SDB, for his many years of service as Provincial Delegate for the Salesian Family.

At the same time, he announced the appointment of Fr. Gerardo Gómez, SDB, as the new Delegate, supported by Alejandra Salazar, a Salesian Cooperator, as Lay Delegate. Both have taken on the responsibility of fostering and strengthening communion among the various groups of the Salesian Family.

The Advisory Council concluded on Wednesday, July 29, with the celebration of a Mass of Sending, experienced as an expression of gratitude for the journey undertaken and as an opportunity to entrust to Mary Help of Christians y Don Bosco the commitments made during the previous days.
