(ANS – Rome) – Work and reflection on missionary animation in the Salesian provinces continue unabated on a global scale. Toward the end of August, two Salesian regions – East Asia-Oceania and Interamerica – met online to continue their respective regional journeys.

The Provincial Delegates for Mission Animation (PDMAs) from the East Asia-Oceania Region, coordinated by Fr. Arun Charles Michael of Cambodia, continued the tradition of meeting every three months on the 20th, with the participation of Marco Fulgaro, Secretary of the Missions Sector.

Following updates on in-person meetings planned for the coming years, each PDMA shared its approach to promoting the theme of the 2026 Salesian Mission Day (SMD), “Open Hearts, Living Mission – Salesian Missionary Solidarity.” The discussion highlighted the wealth of proposals and the importance of adapting them, both linguistically and “stylistically,” to suit different contexts.

The Secretary of the Missions Sector then briefed the group on several updates from the Sector, including the upcoming “Germoglio” Course for new missionaries, the draft program for SMD 2027, meetings of the Salesian Missionary Volunteers, and the ongoing review of processes for accompanying missionaries. Finally, statistical data were presented on Salesian missionaries sent out from 1969 to the present day.

A few hours later, moving virtually to another continent, it was the turn of the Interamerica Region, coordinated by Fr. Edwin Marcelo Coronel of Ecuador, with the participation of Missions Sector members Fr. Reginaldo Cordeiro y Marco Fulgaro. The PDMAs from the two Colombian provinces updated participants on the situation in Colombia following the earthquake that struck the country, emphasizing the great closeness and solidarity of the Salesian world. Mr. Fulgaro presented updates from the Sector and statistical data on the missionaries, while Fr. Cordeiro concluded the meeting with several reflections.

Perseverance and fraternity are among the fundamental elements of these gatherings, which reveal the beauty of walking together, united by faith in God and the missionary charism of Don Bosco.
