The children of Boyle Heights celebrated Don Bosco’s feast with a day filled of joy, fun and laughter. The community came together to make this event a possible. The celebration began with a warm Salesian welcome by Fr. Rafael Saiz, SDB who gave the good morning and lead the opening prayer. After that, Sr. Elizabeth Villanueva, FMA awarded the winners of the Saint John Bosco trivia contest. Children were then invited to take part in all the games and activities available at the playground.

Donations of toys and prizes were awarded to all children who earned Bosco bucks while playing these games. Two jumpers and a mechanical bull were also offered by parish families for this special occasion. A catechist and her husband grilled hamburgers and hotdogs for all to enjoy. The day was filled of surprises such as Ice cream, face painting and a friendly clown named “Tatis” who animated the crowd with her talented acts. We are proud to say that Bosco is alive in Boyle Heights thanks to the collaboration between the Salesian Family Youth Center and St. Mary’s Church. Be sure to stay attentive, for more great news on this new movement!
