ROSEMEAD, CA—September 29, 2020—Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech) will host its first virtual Black & Gold “Un-gala Gala” on Saturday, October 17, at 7 p.m. Viewers of the unique interactive gala will recognize this year’s honorees and bid on auction items, with all proceeds benefiting Bosco Tech’s tuition assistance program.
The event will honor Edison International (NYSE:EIX) and Mr. Robert Currie (Tech class of ’64) for their tremendous contributions to the school’s success through the decades. Parent company of Southern California Edison and Edison Energy, Edison International is a generous supporter of Bosco Tech’s financial aid, green and sustainable technology, and robotics programs. Currie is an award-winning instructor, long-time administrator, and Tech alumnus who taught at the school for nearly 50 years.
“Bosco Tech is blessed to have the opportunity to recognize Edison International and Mr. Currie for their outstanding commitment to our community,” said Memo Gutierrez, Bosco Tech President. “Their dedication to education is forward thinking and has benefitted generations of young people. The gala, although in an entirely new format this year, is the perfect occasion to honor both Edison and Mr. Currie and to celebrate Bosco Tech’s positive impact in the lives of our students and alumni.”
The event is free to attend virtually; sponsorship opportunities are detailed on the school’s website https://www.boscotech.edu/the-black-and-gold-un-gala-gala/ or by contacting Viki Battaglia, Director of Alumni Relations and Special Events, at vbattaglia@boscotech.edu.
