Fr. Alejandro was born in Morelia, Michoacan in Mexico. He met the Salesians in 1980 when he was six years old and joined the Salesian Oratory. He did his first profession in 1994 and was ordained as a priest on July 5, 2003. In his Salesian life, he has been in many positions around education. At one point, he was the President of the Salesian University in Mexico. In 2014 he got his Doctorate at the University of San Francisco, School of Education, in the program Organizations and Leadership.
He has extensive experience in education. Among his most significant accomplishments, he led the opening of two master’s programs, five new bachelor’s programs, and eight new associate’s programs at the Salesian University in Mexico. He has also published 12 books around the theme of education.
In the last month, Alejandro facilitated leadership training for the Red America Social Salesiana where people from sixteen different countries participated. Three of those participants were from the Salesian Family Youth Center in Los Angeles. Miriam Hernandez, one of the participants, stated, “Fr. Alejandro is giving us a new way to see the Salesian charisma; he is helping us to see the priority of our mission”.
Alejandro is now part of the Salesian Community in Don Bosco Hall in Berkeley, and we are so excited to have him among us! –
