St Francis de Sales: The Bee and the Blossoms 2nd edition: is a collection of peer-reviewed academic papers by various Maltese authors covering different aspects of the saint.
On the occasion of the 400th anniversary since St. Francis’s death, the Salesians in Malta have prepared this publication that looks at Francis de Sales as an author, a theologian, a spiritual director among other aspects. In fact the topics covered are: Francis de Sales as a precursor for ecumenical dialogue; the perspective of psychosynthesis to Francis de Sales’s accompaniment; Salesian meditation; de Sales’s reference to the Fathers of the Church; Francis de Sales’s use of the verse 8:6 from Song of Songs; the mutually nourishing spiritual friendship between de Sales and St. Jane Frances de Chantal; and finally, a look at the Neapolitan composer Francesco Feo’s Oratorio Francesco di Sales: Apostolos del Chablais.
The authors, who are all Maltese, include Salesians of Don Bosco, a Carmelite, a Dominican, diocesan priests, and lay people. Cardinal Mario Grech wrote the foreword.
The 1st edition was a success and the 2nd edition now includes the Apostolic Letter of Pope Francis: Totum Amoris Est.
The book contains 304 pages.
