Salesian Youth Centers Unite!

The Salesian Family Youth Center, along with other Salesian Boys and Girls Clubs and Youth Centers, participated in a face-to-face meeting focused on the revision of the Strategic Planning of the Salesian Province of the West of the United States. The meeting was led by Father Fabian Cardenas, Delegate of the Salesian Youth Ministry, and Father Mel Trinidad, Provincial.

During the meeting, the participants discussed several topics related to the revision of the Province’s Strategic Planning, including the creation of a pastoral plan, monitoring the progress of the plan, measuring and communicating progress, and evaluating and improving structures. The main focus was on changing the mentality from the current situation to the one that the Province will have in the future.

The Provincial, Fr Mel emphasized the four priorities of the Province, which are Salesian Charismatic Identity, Salesian Formation, Accountability, and Vocation. He also shared different projects that the Province plans to achieve, such as hiring highly qualified lay professionals who believe and live Salesian values.

The projects were categorized as: 

  • Human Resources and Talents
  • Leadership and Evaluations 
  • High-Performance Teams 
  • Reshaping Presences 
  • Advancement 
  • Social Communication and Media 
  • Growth Mindset 
  • Vocation. 

Additionally, the Provincial announced three seminars that will be available mainly to the Salesian leaders of the Province.

Fr. Fabian emphasized the importance of strengthening the Salesian identity throughout the Province. He recognized the strong Salesian identity present in Salesian High School and acknowledged the need to work on processes, identity, and standards in Salesian parishes and Youth Centers.

In conclusion, the Salesian Family Youth Center was part of a significant meeting aimed at revising the Strategic Planning of the Salesian Province of the West of the United States. The participation of the Salesian Boys and Girls Club in Richmond, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, alongside other Youth Centers, highlights the importance of collaboration and solidarity among Salesian presences. The meeting emphasized the need for a change of mentality, the four priorities of the Province, and different projects that the Province plans to achieve.
