(ANS – ECSA) – On Tuesday, November 14th, more than 90 men and women belonging to Salesian social communication in America shared a virtual meeting with Fr. Luis Timossi, Director of the Salesian Center for Ongoing Formation in America (CSFPA). On the occasion, Fr. Timossi offered keys to reading Don Bosco’s “Dream at Nine Years of Age”, whose bicentenary will be celebrated in 2024, highlighted by the Rector Major in Strenna 2024, the motto of which is: “The dream that makes you dream. A heart that transforms ‘wolves’ into ‘lambs’.”
The virtual meeting was organized by the Salesian Social Communication Network of America, accompanied by the Social Communication Sector at Salesian Headquarters in Rome. The participants, Provincial Delegates of Social Communication, editors and directors of the Salesian Bulletins, editorial managers, and Salesian radio stations in America, reflected on the richness that emerges from this founding dream, the summit of the life of Don Bosco and the Salesian Congregation.
Fr. Timossi stressed that Don Bosco had a large number of dreams throughout his life and that with them he was able to discover not only the process of transformation of the young people of his time, but also of future generations. They are dreams in constant movement, from which the entire Salesian charism is concentrated and projected into the future, inspiring unity in Salesian life and reality.
Fr. Ricardo Campoli, who greeted everyone on behalf of the General Councillor for Social Communication, Fr. Gildasio Mendes, was also present on behalf of the Social Communication Sector at Salesian Headquarters in Rome. In his greeting, Fr. Campoli encouraged the continuation of this type of formation space, because it helps everyone to dream according to the spirit of Don Bosco.
The Rector Major’s Strenna for 2024 opens up the need to explore Don Bosco’s dreams and seek their richness: to carry out historical and literary studies, rediscover the traits of the charism and analyse the presence of Jesus and Mary. Don Bosco’s Dream thus invites us to dream as a Salesian Family and to accompany young people in their vocational discovery and in their journey to be good Christians and upright citizens.
